We can use half the MLE each for Brew and Smith once we spend our cap money.

Damn, I'm all for giving him the ability to make plays/decisions. it's when he's at his best. but the coach can't just throw him out there and give him full reigns.

there has to be a middle ground

or you'll find him in your starting lineup with Harden/Howard going at Draymond Green (all NBA defender)

i love the concept of him being on this team, but not with Mchale coaching him. If he can't be coached to a middle ground that begats more consistency, he needs to bounce

I have a feeling brewer is going to command more than the mle. I hope I'm wrong but he's def a 6th man wing player a contender with cap space could use. Smith, I have no idea, he shows flashes but doesn't seem like he would work from a coaching standpoint on many teams. I hope he takes whatever we offer him.

Don't want him back. Too dumb of a player and commits too many mistakes.

Hell yeah he stays. That guy will not get the leeway he gets with the Rox anywhere else in the league. Dwight and Mchale will keep him in check.

I doubt his stock went up much for being wildly inconsistent. Easier for us to keep as a second rotation. I think he prefers to stay and teams are probably not lining up for him. A decent value for the Rockets.

Overall this interview helped confirm some things. McHale is more hands off and that's how Smith likes it. He couldn't survive a coach like Pop for instance.

No DD we got blasted because they are just the better team. We coulda beat any other team in the league this year but nobody is beating the Warriors and you of all people know this. I'm rooting for lebron and the cavs because I am a fan of the king and his greatness but I don't expect that series to go more than 5 in the Warriors favor. They might do worse than us honestly.

Blasted? We got blasted vs the Clippers and he was one of the reason we survived.

But l don't know maybe Dwight missing the entire 1st game with and injury while leading big before he got hurt? Harden mental lapse game 2? The inability of other much better 3 point shooters than him to make outside shoots? Brewer awful awful series? Terrence Soft Jones? Harden worst game of his career in game 5? could all have been the difference between a 4-1 Houston or at least a 3-2 either way. But yes he a big reason we got "BLASTED"

Amare? Amare? The same guy he destroy in the First Round? The same guy when he entered the game Houston went into Alley-oop video game mode?

A number of his TO's on "bad passes" seemed to be ones where where expected or presumed a player to cut or not cut and they did something else. Smith even said how he is an instinctive type of player. You can only make those type of passes after playing with other players for awhile so you eventually do just know where they will be and where they won't be. Basically, I think if the core sticks together, I feel most of those will be cut down.

The shot thing is more important. Do the Rockets have a shooting mechanics coach? I think that may be the most important investment this off season. Free Throw expert (the guy who trained Shaq), and shooting coach. And then do nothing else but drill T-Jones, Dwight, & Capela on Free throws and 12 ft's. Then have them work with Prigioni, KJ, NJ, Smith, TJ, and D-Mo on 3 pt's.

Josh Smith re-signing with the Rockets is inevitable. Dwight wants him here so he'll be here. The question is how much Morey will re-sign him for. I expect him to sign for a pretty small amount.

I think you absolutely bring him back. I felt the overall good he brought to the team out weighed any bad. He wont be a cancer here, we have a player coach, and a team who is hungry for a title and I feel he is one of those players who is still hungry, it is also hard to find a skilled big man who can do what he does at his position he is valuable to the rotation and chemistry.

Also he still getting payed by Detroit, and with the new CBA, he might want a short term contract and THEN wait it out and get more money when it kicks in. I dont see how getting money would be a issue for Josh At the moment at least.

Hopefully Jsmoove stays. Always thought he is the best PF fit alongside Yao some 5 years ago.

    Jones on the other end...

Kind of like when the Oilers were the second best team in the NFL, but were stuck playing the Steelers.

if you rely on the 3pt shooting on Smith, Ariza and Brewer in the regular season, you're toast in the playoffs.

We didn't lose in the conference finals because of 3pt shooting. Warriors outplayed us in many facets.

Both Bev and DMo are capable of shooting near 40% anyway

No, true, if our goal is to be the number 2 seed, and not be a realistic contender, then sure.

The Rockets ARE a realistic contender.

They took an enormous step forward.

After the Rockets were eliminated the year before they won their first title did you say the same thing?

You just don't get it.... You never have.
