Are there any good movies out in the theatres now besides X-men? I don't want AFI good movies. I want something entertaining. I want something like a Crimson tide, LA Confidential, or Good Will Hunting. ------------------ "You've got 6 fouls, use them well" -Derrick Coleman
Coyote Ugly is simply the worst movie I've ever seen. Space Cowboys was good. Check out my reviews at http://movies.swirve.com . ------------------ Going for the Rolls Royce! visit www.swirve.com [This message has been edited by Rocketman95 (edited August 14, 2000).]
Shouldn't Coyote Ugly be good for the mere fact that Tyra Banks and Piper Perabo dance around on bar tables and have wet t-shirt contests? ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!) The answer to your question is, "not really". Space Cowboys is pretty good. I thought the pacing was slow, particularly in the beginning when the plot was coming together. The relationships were extremely undefined, however the leads demonstrated a good chemistry. In the end, too formula for my taste......to the point of absurdity. ------------------ "Have we not here the best cards in the game to win this easy match played for a crown?....." Bill Shakespeare
I know this doesn't help now, but "The Original Kings of Comedy" comes out Friday. I can't wait. D.L. Hughley, Steve Harvey, AND Bernie Mac! ------------------
The Perfect Storm is the worst movie Ive ever seen. No FUN in that movie. Only a Mango could appreciate that movie I heard that Mel Gibson movie was pretty good though. ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Posting in stupid threads is not FUN! 2. The Patriot is Braveheart set in the revolutionary war. One dimensional, british villains set in a historical backdrop with little regard for actual historical accuracy. It entertains as far as that goes, and it certainly is pretty to look at, but it doesn't go much further than that. ------------------ "Have we not here the best cards in the game to win this easy match played for a crown?....." I went to THE REPLACEMENTS with a friend. I really didnt want to go, but I found it very funny and very entertaining. Of course some of it is predictable, but overall it is a very good movie, I think. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
Replacements is ok, B- Patriot, B+ ShangHai Noon, A Perfect Storm, C U571, B I heard, Coyote Ugly, D Space Cowboys, C ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I liked the Replacements. The theme and storyline is very similar to Major League -- but with football. It isn't an outstanding movie, and isn't going to win any accademy awards. If you go into it without any big expectations, and with the goal of having a little fun, you'll enjoy it. If you can, try to go when there's a little crowd -- it was fun to hear everyone cheering as if it were a real ball game. Funny, no one mentioned Hollow Man -- but I didn't think it was great either -- it certainly didn't live up to the hype. ------------------ Stay Cool...
What lies beneath is a great movie. ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. Just by saying something, I could make them mad enough to go home and slap their moms." John Rocker
I expected nothing out of the Perfect Storm, so it was pretty good to me. ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true. The latest on Maurice Taylor
Yeah, if you enjoy crap. No, seriously, it was crap. ------------------ "I'll drop kick those f*ckin' dogs if they come anywhere near me." visit www.swirve.com
"What Lies Beneath" wasn't exactly crap, then again it was far from great. I like movies with good endings. Bad endings are the last thing I see, so I remember it most, and this one had a bad ending. The rest of the movie was fairly entertaining, but do yourself a favor and leave with five minutes left. "The Patriot" was not Braveheart set in Revolutionary times. I found it extemely entertaining. If you don't like this movie you should be punished by being forced to watch that new Richard Gere / Winona Rider movie for eternity. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. Thx Nothing jumps out at me and says, "I am worth 7.50, come watch me." Is Erin Brockovich any good? I think its out on video now. I'm a big Roberts fan. ------------------ "You've got 6 fouls, use them well" -Derrick Coleman
DREAMer, It is so! You mean to tell me it didn't ring any kind of a familiar bell? Besides, I was speaking more from the vantage point of the items I brought up in my post. One-dimensional, british villains.....very little, if any, historical accuracy......and it just wasn't nearly as good, besides. I love Braveheart. The Patriot was just a bad knock-off. Oh, and wild horses couldn't drag me to the Gere/Ryder movie. ------------------ "Have we not here the best cards in the game to win this easy match played for a crown?....." Bill Shakespeare
Erin Brockovitch is a great movie. Check it out. I didn't want to see it, but liked it. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Gascon, I warned you. I hereby sentence you to an eternity of watching "Autumn in New York" with your eyes held open ala Alex of "A Clockwork Orange". You will be "cured", if I can get my hands on you. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
