Dudes and dudettes--I am sooooooo pumped. Kevin and I are going to get our cd mastered tomorrow from 10 to 6. I have never done this and I am stoked! Tuesday we are sending it to a dup/rep shop and pressing a thousand and they will be ready Friday. I will post the cover art tomorrow. The name of our band is Pulltab. Here is the Track list: 1. This is a Song (a song that tributes and parodies itself) 2. Don't Mess with the Texans (Kevin on vox) 3. The Yao Ming Song (unbelievably redone. All three verses intact plus a wicked bridge) 4. D-Dub 5. Inside Skinney with Steve McKinney 6. Steve & Cat (Ya'll aren't gonna believe this tune-It has a part that I rap so fast it is virtually unintelliglible--slow it down and it is perfect!-We are going to try and do a video with the Rockets with a bouncing ball at the bottom helping out with the words...should be fun) 7. Porno Moustache (Jeff Kent becomes the latest Houston athlete with a tribute song..and he's never played an inning as a 'Stro!) 8. Superlumberjack Man 9. Cheating Waltz (a risky techno/hair band/rock pice set in 3/4 abot a guy that cheats at Scrabble, Uno, and Operation, Kev on vox) 10. Welcome Home Aaron Glenn 11. One Wish. Beat Tennessee (Me and Kev rip the Titans) I am pumped and nervous as hell. The product is good. I have no idea how many we will sell. I know the target for the whole album is rather limited but I hope The Yao Ming Song will carry it... Your thoughts????
I love how you put the Yao Ming song 3rd while knowing that will be the one to carry you guys. Very clever and chic. How about a Cracker-esque hidden track. I will buy it IF You autograph it and Yao Ming also autographs it so I can sell miliions on ebay and make a huge profit leeching of the works of others... heh heh heh
Chance, was the inspiration for the porno moustache our version of the 11 days of XMas Astros style or as soon as he signed thought of . Good luck, and you can make it. Just believe in yourself.
lol. the inspiration was...the porno lookin' moustache dude wears! Plus I LOVE him for taking less than other offers. I spend a lot of time in the song talking about that.
I listened to a few and they sound great. Where's the Yao Ming song? Good luck Chance! (Doesn't seem like you'll need it ,though)
Uh, before you put that in, maybe you should know that it was a miscalculation by Kent's agent that lead to him "accepting" a lower offer. Revisionist history is never frowned upon. Heck, John Wayne's Davy Crockett didnt die til the end.
I would've been remiss not to ask my man. Trust me wednesday was a truly great day: kent signs, so I was abnormally giddy, then we get the sg/sf we need in posey for a easily replaceable part, and then the rockets won. It was beautiful.
Chance, You mean Buck Futter isnt going to make it on the album? Why not? Also, Morons is one of my favorites of yours. But I guess, only those who listen to 610 would get that one. Still a catchy toon.
Buck Futter (And Jalapeno Pepper, Did I sing that out Loud, P's and T's, Damned Receipt, Worth the Fall, and many more) would have required a little parental advisory. If we are successful with this venture be on the look out for my black label band, (Bat L' Lup) (battle up) to have a, um, wordy dird album in the spring. I wanted Morons soooo bad but I got vetoed by my label. I could care less. we got him.
Who are you using? I've done lots of work in mastering rooms and I'll tell ya', for me, it is THE MOST BORING part of the recording process. I always come back from those things exhausted just from listening and waiting for the computer to make its calculations. It is very different than the recording process which is really active and creative. That having been said, it is one of the most important and overlooked elements of making a record (that's a "CD" for you kids out there ). When you hear the difference it makes between your mix and the master, you'll feel like the whole boring afternoon was worth it. Also, I know I've learned a lot about the recording process from the mastering room. It teaches you, if you pay attention, what works and what doesn't sonically on a record. I know each time I've been there for the process, it has improved my mixes immeasurably. Normally, the artist isn't there for the mastering process. It is usually just the producer, the engineer and the mastering engineer. But, it will probably be educational for you to be there. I know my partner, though he isn't really involved in the recording process with our stuff other than just singing, likes going and it does help him as well. Best of luck.
I echo your Kent sentiments, all the way Chance. I am ordering opening day astros tickets just to be at his first game. And if you are talking about him turning down 3 yrs 24 mil from SF, RIET, it might've been a miscalculation, but I think he was gone as soon as Ray Durham dotted the I's and the T's on the contract with the Giants. Sabean lambasted Kent in the press this year and after seeing he was on the Giants backburner, I think he wanted out. By signing another 2b, durham, it was a slap in the face of a superstar 2b who won MVP only 2 seasons back. And Houston was by far the best landing spot for him, considering his ranch, and other factors that I rehashed to death last week. All in all, Kent is in an atmosphere where he will be just as happy or moreso than last year, and on a World Series contender again, and our stros' got tenfold better. I love Jeff Kent! Back to Chance, you'll do fabulous, just don't forget the little people who helped make it possible . And we need to get a UT player on the Texans so you don't have to do all Aggie songs . J/K. Best of luck, and happy holidays to you.
Essential Sound at Sugar Hill. Normally, the artist isn't there for the mastering process. Kev and I produced all of the songs as well as sang and played the instruments (I play more than just cowbell for some of you observant folks!) and he has been through the mastering process before. He felt it would be a good learning experience for me. Teach me where I suck and where I do well. Best of Luck. Thanks. Don't even worry about that! I have learned more from you people than anyone else. I may only have 500 posts but I read a ton of this ****. Thanks everyone.
If it is Rodney Meyer doing it, tell him I said, "Hello." I don't know his partner, but I've done a few mastering sessions with Rodney and I recorded with him many years ago.
Rodney's not doing it...it's...um...Allen something. But I coordinated with Rodney. If he's there I'll pass the word along.
Hey, maybe the cd should be in a new ClutchCity.net "Holiday Shopping" section. It's a thought.... Where you going to sell it? Well good luck Chance and I can't wait to hear the new mixes!
