http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2013/01/blazers_insider_gm_neil_olshey_wishes_he_would_hav.html Blazers GM Neil Olshey said that if he knew this summer how competitive his team would be this season, he "would have made a bigger investment in the bench." What would Morey do in the summer if he knew we can get a hand on Harden? just wondering.
I bet you Morey wouldn't have invested in Lin if he knows Harden is on the team and instead gets Beverley or another 3 point threat at the 1 instead.
Probably nothing different. His plan is to get a second superstar. Keeping Dragic, or upgrading the PF isn't going to win us a championship this year. Must keep cap space, wait for next star to come available.
Morey would not have kept Dragic with that player option even with Harden. The player option makes it harder for Morey to improve the team. My guess is that Morey would be doing the same thing. He added Delfino which was a buy low move. I think Morey is always looking for a chance to get a star player, and it would not matter where we are now, he would not mortgage the future to get a few wins this season. Once Morey gets that second super star I believe you then will see a different mind set. He will make moves to strengthen the players around the foundation. Right now those role players do not matter as much. Asik and Lin were some what buy low propositions with the understanding he can turn around and deal them easily if needed.
I'm not convinced of that. But, then I always thought letting Dragic walk over a player option was dumb.
One thing I can think off is to give up that silly DHoward chase, and not amnesty Scola, but would that affect our ability to acquire Harden? I don't know, also we have too many PFs anyways, so hard to say.
