I think Ryan Anderson is moved at next years deadline, without giving up a 1st Round pick. 2 consecutive deep drafts. Lou Williams traded to Rockets for a 1st Rd pick. Steep price to pay Where Kyle Kuzma was available where the Rockets pick at 25 but dropped to 27 to the Nets than traded to the Lakers. And being left out again in the 1st Rd in this draft again. Jeremy Lin traded to the Lakers with 1st Rd bad Contract.
Still a good player for the CP3 bench brigade that was blowing teams away early in the season. Use him heavily so we can keep PJ Tucker healthy for the playoffs.
As long as he's on our squad, it's stupid not to put a 6'10" career 40% 3 pt shooter to work. We've got to find a contributing role for him. He's still got a valuable NBA skill. There really is no difference between a Kover and Ryno. It's up to MDA to find a way to utilize his skills. I do not accept the premise that hes better off as $20 mil wasted space on the end of the bench. I will say that getting rid of defensive specialists like Luc and Ariza in favor of guys like Melo only makes this harder
Ryan Anderson has been through a lot more in life than sitting on the bench in the playoffs. I am as tough on him as anybody, but just as it would be foolish for the Rockets to depend on him in the playoffs, it would be equally dumb to write him off and park on him on the bench. The Rockets will get something out of him.
He's shot 39% on 3PA in his two seasons with us on pretty high volume for a low usage stretch PF/C. He's not great on defense and isn't particularly useful vs GSW. He also was outshined by PJ Tucker, LMAM, and Capela who all had amazing seasons, none of which could be predicted (two of these players weren't on our team) before Ryno was acquired. Ryno's strength was/is being a spacing big with the ability to create off isolation, the latter talent not being important on our team given how many better pure scorers we have. He's basically done what he's supposed to do for us, he just happens to look awful to the eye given how remarkably good the Rockets were last season.
I like Ryno. He needs to become a little more alpha and get his game going again. He’s too talented to waste this opportunity in his career.
