Has anyone recently had this done?

    Who has the best deals?

I noticed that the rate range so far from 100-120 for 1 door. That seems kinda high, but I sure as hell won't attempt it.

I heard Lowes was reasonably priced to install them.

Did I mention that I don't want to install it myself. I considered it and then I looked at all the parts and chickened out.

I installed one about 5 years ago, it was not that hard. That being sad, I think I would just pay to have it done next time. I don't think $100 ~ $120 installed is a bad price at all.

My family doesn't have one, but that may be because we use our garage to hold crap instead of cars.

That's why I'm having it installed. It's a hastle to have to stop the bike, lift the door, then pull in.

Which HD do you have? I just bought a Street Bob at Mancuso.

I had a 1/2 HP belt drive Chamberlain installed by Lowes for ~250.

They had a $59 install deal and I jumped on it just in time.

The guy that did the work was with Texas Garage Door, if anyone gives a squirt.

$59 to install is a good deal.
    $100+ is a bit much.

I installed one myself a few weeks ago. The part list looked like a lot when you first started but it's really not that bad now that I have done it once. Just follow the instruction. It's pretty straight forward.

I'd pay to have it done too, $60 to have it installed is not worth my time to do it. Plus I don't think most of us are as cool or as handy as you are :p

I watched the guy do it and was glad I paid the 59 bucks. A lot of wiring and manual labor. I didn't have the tools this guy had. Plus they do it all the time and it still took him over an hour. It's a pretty decent garage door opener.

If you have the tools and motivation to do it yourself, my hats off to ya.

My ass would have been cussing an entire afternoon. That's a fact.

$100 - $120 for a garage door opener + installation? That's actually a good price if the garage opener is a good garage door opener. I've talked to a few installers around the Dallas area and Liftmaster are considered the best. There are also different kinds : chain drives, screw drives, belt drives, etc. From what I could gather, Linear is a brand you should stay away from. You'll pay for Liftmasters, though.

I still laugh when I think back to when I was a kid, and it's raining like hell or something, my dad would tell me to get out of the car and open the garage. I would be pissed because everybody else had a garage door opener. His response to that was "you're my garage door opener". lol. :)

Did you find one with a keychain remote? I have two garage doors, one opener, and park my bike on side without the opener.
