Ever since Morey has taken helm, it seems like the Rox front office thrives on uncertainty and calculated risks on every possible scenario. For most of us fans, it is a constant love/hate relationship because we never really know what's going to happen, and that is exactly why we check CF 20x a day during drafts/trade deadlines/free agency signings. I am certain that there is a spreadsheet on Morey's computer that shows all the various scenarios that could occur.
For those of us that are not that complex, here are the "simplified" versions of the most likely scenarios that could play out:

    - Bron leaves, Bosh comes, Parsons matched

    - Bron and Bosh stay in Mia and we match Parsons, but before we do so, we pick up a few free agents with the cap space created by Asik and Lin trades

    - Bron and Bosh stays in Mia and we do not match Parsons or we s&t him to dallas and pick up free agents prior to that with the aforementioned cap space

    - Bron and Bosh stays in Mia and we let Parsons go and preserve cap space for next year, just to do this again

This is not even including the offers we have made to Dirk and Melo and the spurned Lowry.
That is also why we have been reported to be interested in any worthy free agent out there including Deng, Pierce, etc.
Essentially, the Rockets are somehow interconnected with all the major happenings this summer.

Ofcourse, all this is pending the assumption that N.O. will be able to create ample room to finalize the Asik trade and Hinkie won't stiff arm Morey into giving up more assets for the wink wink Lin deal.

Lol, complicated enough? There are an infinite amount of smaller variables that could change for each major branch of option but I believe this sums up the offseason so far.

    Any other thoughts?

Now that the first domino has gone down and we have signed Ariza, can someone update the options we have from here?

    So far I have:

    - move Asik for intended deal, sign free agent(s) with space, match Parsons

    - ", try to get a trade exception or some other way to preserve the flexibility if they don't find the right free agent, match Parsons

    - ", ", don't match Parsons

    - expand Asik deal to get back a player under contract, match Parsons

    - ", don't match Parsons

Say what you want about Morey, his real value is that he is the best at navigating and taking advantage of the CBA and league rules.
We will always get the best bang for the buck because we have essentially the best accountant/cpa in the NBA ;)

The thread was before the Lin trade and Ariza signing.
Hinkie price was more steep than LA, which is why Lin ended up a Laker.
