GOT the show got significantly weaker upon passing the books. Its easier to pick and select great scenes from the book. Nobody should expect them to keep that standard, these TV/Movie guys aren't exactly great story tellers.

still haven't watched season 7. I've forgotten so much from s1-6 that i may have to binge it all again before progressing, which coincidentally is what is keeping me from going forward. don't have the time anymore to go thru 500 hours of series.

If I'm not mistaken, HBO is making a prequel to this.

    Yup. https://ew.com/tv/2018/11/30/game-of-thrones-prequel/

Unfortunately, it's not Dunk & Egg. I guess they'll get to that eventually when the do the Fire & Blood book, which is about the Targaryen reign in Westeros.

Martin is never finishing ASOIAF.... :(

The Egg and Dunk book is unreadably boring

Oh God no. So much promise, so long and convulated. Terrible when the author dies before he finishes.

Haven't read wheel of time, but I know Sanderson finished the series, and he's an amazing writer. The Stormlight Archive series is so good.

It has its greatness, but it's 4,253,872 pages long. I love long books but dayumn. Wheel of Time indeed.

Maybe I suggest taking a break from fapping for a few hours?

I swear I felt like I needed to start over so many times, but the thought of starting over with that many pages facing me made me finally give up.

Was hoping for something to pop out of the darkness at the end.

Surely someone has put together a Youtube recap of what's going on to prepare people for the new season.

They've come up with some great moments, they know what'll work for TV, but they have too many leaps of logic (I know it's fantasy, but it is rooted in some reality of human beings with human limitations).

If they would just fill in the gaps, five minutes here or there. Like, wouldn't Tyrion wonder, "WTF happened to my brother who just fell in the lake, barely saved from dragon fire, but did he drown?" Or, "Hmn, the Lannister caravan is en route to King's Landing; how many ships do we have left? Gather the Dothraki." Or, "Hold up, you brought me down here and there's a bunch of pretty drawings on the cave walls. Let me see your fingers. No chalk. Turn out your pockets. No chalk. Ok....."

I think you mean its 4 million words total, 4 million pages of reading would be impossible. :D

My money is on Jon Snow and Daenerys's child, while Tyrion, Samwell, etc. will help raise the child to be ruler as both of its parents will be dead by the end of the show.

I just went back and binged the whole series again. There were so many things that I had forgotten. I’m ready.
