A group of us (in programming) were in a conference room for a meeting just before it was to start, and we started talking NBA. Being Spurs country (Austin), everyone was talking about the Spurs and how well they're doing. I'm good friends with all of them but had never talked hoops to much of them -- so I suggested they watch the Rockets run circles around them this year and they kind of scoffed. Then one guy, who doesn't watch the NBA much, said, "Is Olajuwon still playing?!?!" with this legitimately stunned look on his face... as if Dream was ancient and should have retired long ago. Everyone was kind of laughing and nodded he was... I just said, "Remember though in the 1995 West Finals when he destroyed Robinson?" ALL SIX of them -- I swear to you -- stopped laughing, stopped smiling, kind of bowed their heads and mumbled, "Yeah, that's true" No "but"s or anything... the conversation on hoops ended there. Hakeem had what must have been the most incredible run ever fo an athlete in the last 20 years. In 94' and 95', he carried that team on his back and won two championship's without even thinking about it. He had some help and role players that helped but Hakeem was/is the man. I was six rows back at the game in Miami and seeing Olajuwon in front of you is an impressive site. Robinson has nothing on Dream, he's still the man. ------------------ the Heat suck!!
