I was listening to 610, and it seemed like everyone that called up had only one thing to say -- Francis turns the ball over, he is not playing smart, etc., etc. I decided to compare Francis rookie season to that of Marbury, Iverson, and Kidd's rookie season. Min FGA Pct Ft St TO Rb Ast Pts Ive 40 20 41 70 2.1 4.4 4.1 7.5 23.5 Mar 35 13 41 73 1.0 3.1 2.7 7.8 15.8 Kid 34 11 39 70 1.9 3.2 5.4 7.7 11.7 Fra 35 14 43 73 1.4 4.2 4.8 6.2 17.0 Seems to me like Francis compares pretty well with the the other three. His assist and turnovers can sure use a little work, but his scoring and shooting percentage is better than Marbury and Kidd. I also think that Francis will start averaging more points and assist when he is not having to constantly dump the ball into the post.
may be bad three to compare against: Iverson (the poster boy for "ME" players): Sixers played better w/o him. Great skills but doesn't make those around him better. Marbury: Left Garnett and is now leading the Nets, who are off to another terrible start. Kidd: Is a true PG. I like his game, interesting to see w/ him & penny over the next few years.
