The fact that they knew about it weeks ago would explain why he wasn't invited to the big league camp. Here's to hoping he and his attorneys can successfully get this overturned.

Damn. The kid seems like a hard worker, he lost something like 50 lbs leading up to the draft to buck the bad body label. Hopefully this is a wake up call that he learns from. Have to be smart about what you put into your body as a professional athlete.

This is nothing, he will be fine.

Luhnow now knows Miami would be a good destination for him if he wants the "stay up" drugs. #CartelWhitley

Makes no impact since he has never been called up.

He hired the Lawyer to a while ago to stop this from happening. It's done.

You can't stop the ruling. He hired the lawyer to attempt to appeal the suspension. Not to prevent the ruling from being handed down.

Obviously he didn't get the right corrupt lawyer.

The good news in all of this is that it's highly unlikely the Astros will need Whitley in any form during the regular season. Was there a chance of him being called up in the second half or for the playoffs? Sure. But there's still a chance that he gets called up in September and makes the playoff roster as a reliever if he really proves himself. If the 50 game suspension stands then he'll be eligible to return May 29th. Let's say he takes a couple starts to get back in the rhythm of things and then has a few really solid starts in a row. By that time it would be late June/early July. If they were to want to get him some time in AAA to see if he'd be ready for a big league call-up then he would be able to make 4-5 starts in AAA before mid-August. At that point, if he's proven himself capable of getting AAA guys out on a consistent basis, then I don't see any reason why he couldn't still see some innings in Houston later this year.

The one underlying positive of this negative situation is that if he does get called up for September/October, he'll have significantly fewer innings on his arm.

This sucks but it's better than losing him to an injury for half the season. I just wish professional sports would cut the holier-than-thou crap, who cares what players are putting in their bodies as long as it's not a performance-enhancing substance.

You have to be insanely unlucky to test positive for adderall if the story he’s telling is true. Pretty much means he had the drug test the next day...

Well the MLB doesn’t suspend for drugs, at least as far I know, other than PEDs. It’s just the MILB. The NFL really is the only major sport suspending for drugs (mar1juana mainly because it’s the only drug that stays in your system more than a couple days) which is ironic given the team doctors load the players up with Opiates leading to many of them being addicted....but that’s another story not for here

Yeah wouldn’t be shocked if he took it while partying or whatever. I would be shocked if it was studying related cause idk what he needs to be taking adderall to study for when he has enough money to be set for life.

That's actually interesting, didn't know that, and it makes sense because I honestly can't think of a player at the top level in MLB or NBA getting suspended for weed in recent memory. I guess that's how Jose Fernandez was getting away with his cocaine binges, that and the fact that it's gone out of your system within a few days unlike weed.
