One of my favorite fun facts about last year’s team - Mike Fiers led the team in innings pitched. Mind bottling.
I've seen a ton of movies where there are bottled brains on the shelf...Young Frankenstein, etc...but I've never met one of the actual subjects before. I'd ask to shake your hand if you still had one. Or two.
Apparently Elieser Hernandez is in the majors. https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2018/06/27/2200349083/1530058597640/asset_2500K.mp4
Is Bo Porter coaching the Rays now? The Rays had a left-handed reliever playing first yesterday. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-rays-played-a-pitcher-at-first-base/
Word on the street is that the left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado played first base for his little league teams, so he had it covered.
OF Jason Martin, who was sent to Pittsburgh in the Gerrit Cole trade, was promoted to AAA. He was very good in AA, posting a 152 wRC+. He also played mostly CF for them. My main knock on him was his defensive limitation. If he is able to play a passable CF he suddenly becomes a lot more valuable, as he has 20 HR power, good speed, and good on-base skills.
No, they're trying to win their division and optimizing the roster... guys who have the ability to be sent down, and aren't performing, should be sent down.
I remember that short span with the Astros when Gomez wore glasses(I dont remember why he had to). He stopped trying to swing so hard and just worried about getting on base. It was the only time I didnt completely hate it when he came up to bat. Then he stopped using the glasses and went back to swinging out of his helmet. What an awful player.
