many have Mexicans put on a karate-like bandana and try to pass them off as authentic

plus they place bonzai shrubs all inside to add to the authenticity

most of the "cheap" sushi places here are chinese run and operated.

My favorite is Osaka on Westheimer. I don't know if there is any better "bang for the buck" in or around town. It probably isn't the best sushi, but it is easily the best for the price.

    it's good

i've been to their location in west hollywood

uchi definitely gives them a run for their money, though -- katsuya seemed to be more of a see-and-be-seen trendy type place.

plus they're diluting their brand by opening up 5 locations in Texas over the next few years, plus additional locations in CA and FL

Went here today. Sushi was great and some of t was really cheap.

Man the bento box people got for 8 bucks was insane. 3 kinds of meat.

I was told by a Bangladeshi dude (that worked as chef at a Japanese Restaurant on Westheimer), there are only 5-6 restaurants in Houston that are owned and run by Japanese folk.

It is not uncommon for Koreans to run sushi joints.

    Pearland recommendations?

Anything not too expensive there that will still be significantly better than those grocery store sushi stations?
