    1. I have this memory of the Rockets trying like hell to score in the last minutes of a game against the Jazz in the playoffs. Distinctly of T-Mac throwing up mid-range J after mid-range J without success. I could've sworn this was in the closing minutes of game 7, 2007 but I watched that and the team sadly went out with a whimper in that game.

This did happen though right? Rockets couldn't secure a defensive rebound at all and on the other end McGrady whiffed on multiple chances.

    2. The hell happened in '05-'06? 34 wins...Was that just due to the Yao and McGrady injuries?

it did happen and we won only a handful of games in 05-06 because tillman was too cheap.

Yao had too much weaknesses. You can put a midget in front of him and that would pretty much shut him down. And t-mac, the legendary choker, must a say anymore? Noway we could probably win anything with that group.

I remember being with a girl at Woodrows for that loss. I told her honestly that night that I was too disappointed to have sex.

The 40 pt game 7 loss gave me PTSD and blocked all memories of that era.

I really felt sorry for T-Mac from 05-08

Rockets really started a Ryan Bowen in 05...

I tried looking up the game for the OP but then I kept reading Matt Harpring's name and it triggered too many bad emotions so I stopped

I remember the Jazz having a great plan and the perfect personnel for taking Yao out of his game. They were great at fronting the pass, which the Rockets never really figured out how to counter. On defense, he was too slow to guard Boozer, who ate him alive, and the Rockets did not rotate him out to the perimeter to guard Okur, who could just bomb away over a smaller player for 3. Deron Williams played well. The Rockets knew they were in deep but couldn't figure out what to do about it. So frustrating.

You need to feel sorryfor Yao, Scola, Landry, Brooks, Battier, Mutumbo and the entire Rockets organisation being held hostage by a career loser and whiny little b****.

‘05-‘06: Unlucky injuries. Yao was out, comes back only for T-Mac to be dealing with back spasms. We saw flashes at times at how great the team could be when healthy.

‘06-‘07: They drew a bad matchup with the Jazz and got outplayed after going up 2-0. It hurts, because I truly believed they would’ve taken care of the Warriors to reach the Conference Finals. Maybe Van Gundy doesn’t get fired.

No PF was a big problem back then. One undersized PF after another and Boozer just ate us alive. Deron Williams was really good back then too. The Jazz had a good squad but, when healthy, we were better. We were never healthy though. It was a very frustrating era.

    Your memory is bad.
It's easy to remember T-mac's playoff tenure, he only played 20 games for the Rockets

he was a bad three point shooter, but most here will romanticized his 13 in 33 and forget that T-mac jacking up 3s was not good for the team

What happened is that Tmac's true shooting percentage was under 50 percent for most of his career in Houston. His highest being 52 percent. Compare that to Harden who's true shooting percentage has only been below 60 percent once at 59.8. Tracy McGrady was fool's gold. A glorified chucker who was more style than substance.

JVG era offense (especially in the later years) was either
    1. Dump it to Yao down low
    2. Tmac jumper or drive
    3. Desperation 3 pointer from the rest of the team

Well, at least we had terrific defense though. :p

The Rockets never could acquire players who were capable of making a pass into the post.
