I thought this raised an interesting question, so I did a little googling. Arizona Cardinals GM hired before HC Atlanta Falcons GM hired before HC Baltimore Ravens GM hired before HC* *-Ozzie Newsom retired and had a successor appointed this year Buffalo Bills HC hired before GM Carolina Panthers GM hired before HC* *-Weird situation where GM who was there when Rivera was hired was brought back after his successor was fired Chicago Bears GM hired before HC Cincinnati Bengals Owner is GM Cleveland Browns GM hired before HC Dallas Cowboys Owner is GM Denver Broncos GM hired before HC Detroit Lions GM hired before HC Green Bay Packers GM hired before HC Houston Texans LMAO Indianapolis Colts GM hired before HC Jacksonville Jaguars GM hired before HC Kansas City Chiefs HC hired before GM Los Angeles Chargers GM hired before HC Los Angeles Rams GM hired before HC Miami Dolphins GM hired before HC Minnesota Vikings GM hired before HC New England Patriots HC is GM New Orleans Saints HC hired before GM New York Giants HC hired before GM New York Jets HC hired before GM Oakland Raiders HC hired before GM Philadelphia Eagles GM hired before HC Pittsburgh Steelers HC hired before GM San Francisco 49ers GM hired before HC Seattle Seahawks HC hired before GM (one week difference, possibly simultaneously) Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM hired before HC Tennessee Titans GM hired before HC Washington Redskins GM hired before HC So that's 20 instances where you have the GM being hired before the HC. 4 instances of either the owner or HC acting as the GM (I consider this a null scenario). 8 instances of the HC being hired before the GM. Now, I'm not saying that the order of hiring automatically determines the hierarchy/working relationship, but in my quick and dirty research, I did find that about half of these teams have had their GMs in place for many years (5+) before their current coach was onboarded. I think it would be weird for a guy who has been there over the course of multiple coaching regimes to not ultimately be in charge of the roster and the HC in general.
That if given a choice between 8-4 and 4-8, I'll take 8-4 every single time and twice on Sunday because we know, from years & years of experience, that once the postseason starts, anything can happen. WHy pass up on that chance to tear the team down and rebuild? You later mention the players getting older... in what world is a lost season a *good* thing? Or an 11-win pace season a bad thing? That would be a gross misrepresentation of my logic. Any team that makes the postseason has a better chance of making the Super Bowl than one that does not - *that* is my logic. So, given the choice, and knowing anything could happen in the postseason, I would much prefer the team go 8-4 and take my chance they can put it together in January than 4-8 and rebuild everything. If your fandom is ring or bust, you should prepare for a lifetime of disappointment. He's 0-1 with Deshaun Watson; I think that's what he should be judged for - and no, they did not look good. I have no issue with pushing blame on him - but at the end of the day, Watson did not play well (and it did not appear to be because BoB did something to affect that) and they ultimately could not overcome a poor OL and significant injuries to key offensive personnel.
He's feeling the hot seat, doesn't sound like one of the usual nice bs sht he sprouts after a defeat.
My point was that it happens in the NFL, whereas all other sports you do see the GM hire the coach. The long standing NFL gm’s Are usually the more successful ones (or have had success in the past)... the coaches with more power likewise (minus the Texans). Isn’t Arians the defacto GM in TB? Carrol has a huge say in roster personnel. Andy Reid is co-GM. John Harbaugh also has a bigger role after Newsome left. The NFL coach is technically the most important of all pro sports coaches, and has the biggest roster to manage,... so there in lies the inherent increased responsibility to all things roster related.
That’s cool but just keep up with the load management excuse he’s been using then. Natural question to ask when a starting player has sat out an entire week.
This effing guy. If you're gonna be a dick to everybody, you have to earn the right to be a dick by being a multiple 'chip coach (Popovich, Bellichick). You can't suck ass and be an ass. Being an arrogant jerk when you completely suck at your job makes you look like such a damn clown. Yeezuz get this douchebag out of here.
I have to LOL at some of you getting upset over this. BoB made it clear earlier in the week about how he would handle injury questions. He said he would wait until he was mandated to release that information. Who here has been annoyed about telling someone something and that person disregard what you told them and continued to push on? Stop being little hypocritical biatches. It is annoying to deal with that. He is human.
I dont visit the D&D, what's it like over there? Feelings nothing more than feelings. I guess being raised in a family like that has made my skin thicker than some.
