Argentina's Hernandez settles on 14 players for Las Vegas trip

The 2004 Olympic gold medal winners Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, Manu Ginobili and Carlos Delfino are the headline names in the Argentina squad that has traveled to Las Vegas to play friendlies ahead of the Rio de Janeiro Games.

Fourteen players in all have flown to Nevada, where El Alma will take on fellow Olympic sides Nigeria 18 and 20 July and the United States on 22 July.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Delfino back in the saddle with Argentina

"Very good," Delfino said to Argentinian outlet Basquet Plus when asked how he felt being back on the court. "I'm working alongside the whole group, I am very happy, I have no pain. For now, everything has been going as it should."

Delfino accepts it will take some time to get back into a basketball rhythm after not playing at all the past few years.

"I'm missing three years of career," he said. "So I say it's like riding a bike. Maybe you do not do it for a few years, you get on and the first time stagger a bit. You get used to the brakes and then everything follows. The good thing is that I see things happening on the court and my body is responding well.

"Day by day, I am getting my timing back. From a physical standpoint, I'm feeling good."

Bring him back, he's type player we need, can shoot, can pass, can play 1-4 if needed, and he has that swagger

I remember when this guy used to play in Bologna, he was the Kobe of Europe with his alpha scoring and swagger. we used to hate him here in Lithuania.

You guys obsess over these international players that are half as talented as the american born players in the league now. I like Delfino but he's been out the league 3 years & washed up. I'd take Mike Miller over him at this point

I don't remember the details around his injury. Did the Rockets medical staff have him playing injured for a while that exacerbated the issue?

He was a big favorite of mine. Miss that dude and that team.

He fractured his foot in the 2013 playoffs vs OKC, so it's not like he had many games to exacerbate his injury.

The Bucks docs felt it wasn't a big deal and allowed him to sign. He subsequently underwent seven (!) surgeries on the foot (six unsuccessful), and hasn't played basketball...until this summer, 3 years later.

I'm convinced we should take a flier on him, but there are a few other teams with actual roster spots and cap space (BKN comes to mind).
