Sacramento would be cutting into their cap space next offseason even though no one is signing with them anyway. They'd probably need one more piece(Ferguson) to get it done maybe.

    Two picks....maybe a second.

Yes, you can help me how you dismiss the cold hard facts of offensive rating, which is one of the most objective measure of a TEAM's overall offensive efficiency. This is not some subjective ranking by some talking heads in the media. This is just numbers tallied from points per 100 possessions adjusted to opponent's strength. Since it is per 100 possession, it has nothing to do with pace. It also has no bias toward the "star power" of a team.

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2018_ratings.html

The Rockets scored more than a point per 100 possessions. It does not seem a lot but it is quite substantial for a large example over the whole season. The best offense and the worst offense is only separated by 11 points.

The only excuse I can come up with is that the Warriors were coasting during the regular season.

BTW, H-Town Melo keeps using OKC's defensive ranking (same ranking system) to dismiss criticism of Melo's defense. You can't have it both ways.

Whoa Easy there big fella, I used it to show you can produce a good defense or #12 overall with Melo on the floor.

As for your debate about who has a better offense they are on opposite ends on the spectrum while being the top 2 in the league.

One led the league in passes then other was dead last, at least for most of the year.

Both are great I think they both play to their players strengths which is why both were so effective.

GS usually has 5 offensive threats on the floor however with 3 or more good to great passers. I'd love to see Houston have 5 legit threats with multiple great passers as well so yeah it's going to be interesting.

I'd probably give GS the edge schematically but only slightly.

In the playoffs, against the best defenses, where it counts the most, the Warriors had the best offensive rating.

Piling up offense against lottery teams does not make you the best offense. The Warriors exposed our offensive weaknesses by shutting down the pick and roll. Our offense (and defense) simply was not good enough. And after they got through with us we weren't even the second best offense.

The Rockets dominated the Warriors until CP3 went down, and terrible officiating reared it’s ugly head.

The only reason basketballholic says otherwise is because it doesn’t suit his previous assessments that the Rockets had ZERO chance last year of winning a title. Morey took a huge black dildo to an entire year’s worth of terrible Holic newsletters.

That ends up costing us more money than just having ryno and Melo and we don’t get the benefit of rynos contracting facilitating anything for us

    True.
But we do get Melo signed to an extension and the full use of the taxpayer mle both this season and next season rather than have to worry about Melo walking or having to use both seasons MLE on him to keep him. I'll trade a late first to get Melo locked up for three seasons and the MLE use on at least two other players besides Melo to get our 9 man rotation ship shape to outlast the Warriors.

Oh, please. Just ignore that we had them on the ropes before Chris pulled a hamstring. Sometimes you're just ridiculous.

I'm not ignoring that. I'm recognizing it. We had them on the ropes because with Chris we could go small and limit Capala's minutes. When we lost Paul wet didn't have another rotation player better than Capela. We gave him those minutes and the series was over.

Look at Capela'a plus minus and his defensive rating against the Warriors. It all equals what we saw out there. They iso'd him and beat him.

Thornton and Beasley are pretty terrible examples for those concerned with defense

Except that who remembers that we had them on the ropes? Nobody from the younger generation 20 yrs from now, they only see who won the ship and who had a dynasty.

Just us Dinos. That is the sad part.

Actually they are a great example of unselfish talented players who are completely willing to defer. Kevin Durant didn't go to Golden State and impose his ways. You can clearly see Draymond or Curry leading the pack. Do you honestly think if Boogie goes to Golden state and demands and disrupts, Kerr is going to keep him past this year? Durant is also in a whole other level than an old 34 year old Melo. Even with that man's abilities and still in his prime, he is allowing Curry and Green and Kerr make the decisions. If D'antoni wants Melo to come off the bench do you really want him to argue? If D'Antoni doesn't want Melo in the final play do you want him to go Pippen and pout on the bench? I agree on getting talent. Especially if we can get it for cheap. But anything that disrupts our chemistry and flow is just not worth it.
