In today's chron, Feigen also alludes to Les not carrying if he has to eat a guaranteed contract to sign DMo.

Excited to see how Payton and Wiltjer perform in camp, and hope we can find spots for both of them through a consolidation trade.

Wow, Isaiah Taylor actually got a spot?
Hope he steps up and gets a permanent spot, however unlikely.

Well, that's good. No sense in letting the game of chicken with D-Mo hinder your ability to fill out the end of your bench. It would be nice to have three-year deals on them while they're cheap, but c'est la vie.

Of the 4, my money would be on Wiltjer...

While he is a bit duplicative as a currently much lesser version of Anderson, he also has one skill-set that has been proven time and time again in the NBA results in a roster spot - a legit stretch 4 that can hit 3s.

But I doubt any of the 4 make the roster out of camp. Of the other three,
    * Bobby Brown I get is supposed to be a great shooter, but I didn't see it, and he's on the tail end age wise.
    * Payton seems like he could have that one defensive skill set to give him a shot, but he also strikes me as a lesser version of Nick Johnson, who despite a couple of cool NBA moments, isn's an NBAer.
    * Taylor I actually think has the potential to be a regular backup+ in the NBA... but the word potential was used about him in college a lot, too. He didn't excel in summer league. And if he can't become a more efficient scorer, the rest of his skill set doesn't matter.

"Again, last season offers a good answer. The Rockets missed the 2014-15 Motiejunas badly last season. Even when he returned after the trade to the Pistons was voided he only showed glimpses of what he brought the previous season when Howard was often out.

Besides being a valuable low-post scorer and a solid 3-point shooter, Motiejunas is an outstanding positional defender in the paint (there actually is paint in the lane at Toyota Center this season) and a ball-mover on the perimeter.

Mike D'Antoni hopes to use the passing abilities of Nene and Motiejunas at the top of the key as a part of his halfcourt offense. That could make Motiejunas valuable in ways that Clint Capela or Montrezl Harrell, rim scorers, or even the more versatile scorer Michael Beasley would not be, along with being a good option to play with either pick-and-roll big man. The Rockets have reason to feel urgency to end the contract impasse and get Motiejunas the strong start he could not last season."

I would just trade DMo,Brewer for Gay. Then it opens another roster spot for us and we can choose 1 of Payton, Wjilcher or Brown or Taylor to retain and put everyone else in Rio Grande

Very curious to see Payton develop. I don't really have high hopes for any of the others.

We've been around to know what that means. Hopefully, we'll be great enough feel like going over the cap at the end of the season.

If DMo were as good as you imagine him to be, he would have been signed by now don't you think?

Wiltjer at home in Houston. Nene took him to Costco to help settle in.

Like Wiltjer a lot. Want to see him at the 5 in a small ball role.

I'll be mildly surprised if Payton doesn't develop into a rotation player by the end of his second season. He's a gym dawg.
