Mike D'Antoni to experiment with playing rotation -- Jonathan Feigen D'Antoni was asked about his history of short rotations. He just rattled off an 8 man rotation in this quote. He doesn't want to overplay the starters. But he likes the idea (always has) for those off the bench getting starter minutes, thus making a short rotation. (I assume like vintage Ginobody: 28 - 32 mpg) ------------------------------------------------------ "Traditionally, I've been skewered because I played seven or eight guys," D'Antoni said. "I like that. I just think it's really important that my sixth, seventh and eighth man have good minutes, that they feel very comfortable. "You're asking somebody like Eric Gordon to come off the bench, I have to make sure he gets starter minutes. If you have somebody like Nene or Clint (Capela) coming off the bench, they got to get starter minutes. If D-Mo gets here – I hope he does – he's got to get starter minutes. So, if you play (reserves) starter minutes and the starters starter minutes, you don't have any more." ------------------------------------------------------
d'antoni makes a point of mentioning dmo in almost every interview. are we just going to eat paytons guarenteed contract then?
Ne expects to be the first-tier starter to begin the season as an enforcer. As long as Clint doesn't outplay him in camp, I'd bet my money on a NeNe/ FlyRy front court. Then again, this is just his speculation. Mike D is a different animal. He can destroy players at will.
I want to say we're a pretty deep team that can throw out a lot of interesting lineups. However...I said that last season and we ended up having about 3 players who remembered how to play basketball. We'll see what happens.
The beginning of the year is going to have a good amount of fluctuation until they find a rotation that is ideal and shows to give them the best chance to win. How long that takes is anyone's guess.

I really like Nene but I think he should be coming from the bench and be a rotational player. Dude gets hurt a lot. Maybe this time he should just play the rotational role and be the 6th man. That way he won;t get hurt.
Unless we're winning big and blowing teams out (so the young guys get some minutes), we'll soon be complaining about the 8 man rotation and no minutes for KJ, Dekker etc etc and no player development.
Nice, thx. Next time I need to check @ClutchFans twitter and Clutchfans Main Page and Clutchfans Videos for all the goods. Embedded: Looks like there is a Capela Weight Gain vid, along with a thread about it. Looks like another good place for one of your vids.
that doesn't really matter. he didn't even start in washington. it's more of maintaining a good balance of minutes for him whether it's starting or off the bench and capela is going to have to have a hand in that
So assuming it's just these 8 guys. Bev (36) / EGo (12) Harden (26) / EGo (22) Ariza (36) / Harden (12) Rhyno (26) / DMo (22) Nene (28) / Capela (20) Too many minutes amongst Bev, Harden, EGo and Ariza for 3 positions. I can see Corey Sewer or McD eating into some of those minutes as a spot guy
You have Capela and and Nene's minutes adding up to 48, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Dmo get some of those minutes at center too. Also interesting you have our new "points guard" getting backup SF minutes, but I think that's totally right. I could also see Ariza getting some PF minutes too.
yes. He said Dekker will get a look at PF, then said his skill set possibly spans 2-4. He gave reasons about the 4 with Dekker, but seems to have just thrown in the 2 part out of nowhere
That's what it's looking like. The Rockets really like Payton and they want to keep in their back pocket in case the Ennis experiment doesn't work out. Of course, if he's cut and signed by the Vipers, we could still lose him.
