I really like the direction the Rockets are heading in now, it feels like we've changed out of neutral and are finally moving forward.

Hopefully the whole DH12 saga won't cripple us with multiple 'bad' contracts so we can continue to grow

This rings true to me. Morey usually signs guys below market, or what appears to be a cheap price. Lins contract is fair value, not cheap. Imo

the spin could be that they wanted Lin the whole time.

But les upping the ante is totally believable. There's no downside. Lin as a player, even as an average nba pg, could live up to he contract. He could outperform it. I think it is highly unlikely that he underperforms it. He has a high floor.

But Lin the player and marketing asset for ads, national tv, etc..... That's a no brainier.

I like the part where they ask the league for help. The league tells them what to do. The Rockets do it. Then the league says its a team-to-team issue.

I could read that kind of stuff all day. When is TNT or somebody going to make a t.v. drama series set in a pro sports office-world?

“We talked about it internally for a while,” Morey said. “We brought it up to his agents, asking if they would be OK with more money, and shockingly, they were open to it.”

Nice sarcasm, hahah. nice read indeed. thx!

Very good insight, you won't see this from the Knicks.
