Its quite possible that trump views the shutdown as a win (not inconceivable... he spoke in favor of the shutdown for months). As long as he can blame others, and as long as his narrowing core of supporters/defenders support the closing ("who needs government anyway", "trump is shaking things up") I suspect he will prefer the shutdown. Heck, he is already moved on to new threats (closing borders) and old ones (caravan).

If I was a Federal employee, this would basically feel like a big "F*** You" from management. Would have been better to stay silent. Maybe OPM should have pretended that they were on furlough, too.
Didn't the Senate pass a CR on a 100-0 vote? Paul Ryan didn't bring that up for a vote, since Trump doesn't support it. Can't the '19 House bring that up for a vote in Jan? If so, they maybe also to pass it with a veto-proof margin, or if not, Trump then has a decision to veto or not.
There's at least one poster on this board that is just fine with these workers being laid off and thinks it's a small price for them to pay in order to get this resolved.
Yeah, I know two different people who are working for the govt. and not getting paid right now. Neither are very happy about it. One I never talk to about politics but they brought up how pissed they are and mentioned how difficult this is for them. The other frequently talk about politics so I wasn't surprised to hear from them. I feel really bad for folks that are being screwed over right now.
OK forum police officer but what is your opinion of the content of the post? Or are you afraid to admit trump's shutdown is causing his administration to do even more ridiculous things like this?
