States are falling like files! Texas is next

U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia ruled Wednesday afternoon on a pre-trial request to temporarily bar Texas from enforcing its ban while a lawsuit filed by two gay couples proceeds.

Texas will institute a stay. Nothing will change until the Supreme Court takes up the issue.

Not trolling, genuinely curious: why do you say that? Can you expound a bit?

The social conservative bulwark against logic, compassion, fairness and common sense is eroding, but it won't go away until the Supreme Court rules, once and for all, that discrimination by any other name is still discrimination.

I don't even understand how this is an issue anymore. I am glad to see Texas is not the last state getting rid of these ridiculous bans.

Awesome news. Congrats to the state of Texas for getting this right.

My home state, however, is the only Northeastern state that doesn't allow same-sex marriage (or anything of the sort). Ridiculous.

We didn't get it right. A federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional. I can assure you the backwards leaders of our state will do everything in their power to make sure marriage equality doesn't become a reality here.

It's a step in the right direction.

The fact that this happened in such a red state is definitely noteworthy, at the very least.

Stupid us for thinking that people who are different from us should still have the same rights as we do. Can't imagine what we were thinking.

Um, Rick, It is indeed the role of the federal government (and the courts) to overthrow the will of the citizens if that will is unconstitutional. You're also wrong about the 10th Amendment and we settled the whole states rights thing in the 1860's.

How is it possible this moron has been governor of Texas half again as long as the Republic of Texas existed?

In 50 years from now this will look like discrimination just like it was discrimination 50 years prior. In 50 years it will be robot rights. History just tends to repeat it self over and over.

I guess in addition to disappearing several federal departments, Perry now wants to disappear the federal courts system.
