It's cuz Theron has them all under her thumb and they don't even realize it, so Diesel sells his soul and sacrifices himself to keep them safe. In the end it turns out that he was playing Theron all along cuz he loves his family!!!!!! All is forgiven and Michelle Rodriguez pretends to enjoy kissing that oaf one final time. Rock and Vin bro-hug it out, and Jason Stathom is allowed to go free because blahblahblah. Will watch when it comes to HBO. Wonder how right my prediction above will be.
Started out as street racing movies, turned into the Avengers. You guys notice how they didn't do any racing/drifting in 7 and looks to be the same in 8. They go to race wars, but don't show actual racing. They've been toning it down since 3. I was thinking more mind control, but your theory sounds right.
