Because Joe G is salty AF. He thinks we are the reason why he is no longer the manager of the Yankees when in reality he just sucks.

There are 3 ways you can learn what type of pitch is coming up.

    1. You have cameras, or some external means of stealing signals. Everybody agrees this is wrong and illegal.

    2. A baserunner on 2nd can steal the signs from the catcher and relay them to the hitter. This a gray area in that everybody tries to do it, but acts like it's wrong for some reason.

    3. A pitcher can have some tell is in his delivery that batters recognize, which is called tipping. Nobody thinks this is wrong and is universally agreed as being simply smart baseball if you can do it.

Girardi and others tried to insinuate we were doing 2, or possibly 1 in the first inning when in reality it was clearly number 3. Glasnow was tipping his pitches and our quality hitters noticed it and quickly spread the word. In other words, it's just pure salt.

With all the camera technology and powerful computing you have to wonder if these cameras can pick up subtle differences in a pitcher's set up that would indicate what pitch was coming. High tech pitch tipping. If they took the video from thousands of pitches from pitchers, some maybe even tens of thousands, and fed them into some kind of data analysis maybe they could pick up these differences.

Everyone has neglected to mention the Astros being caught using cameras by MLB during last season's playoffs. Girardi was salty, but the Astros have had infractions too.

Baseball has a history of cheating.
    Astros are highly efficient.
Astros are the leaders in MLB in camera usage for scouting.
Astros have patient hitters and hunt pitches.
Astros have a large amount of front office resources.

Basically, if a team was cheating, they would play like the Astros, and if the Astros decided to cheat, they would likely be good at it. Very tough to tell being good from cheating. Paranoia isn't a bad thing, but it isn't proof either.

Easy fix would be to use technology to allow catcher, or coach communicate pitches electronically to pitcher. Sure catcher, pitcher would need backup signs available if communication devices failed. Removes the paranoia.

Even then, it seems to me that the subtle differences in pitching set up that would be picked up by machine learning/AI algorithms might be imperceptible to the human eye. At the very least, it would be difficult tot translate to on field performance for the batter. But an edge is an edge.

I think it's funny that he calls Yuli a racist and then proceeds with homophobic speech.
