The Rockets officially picked up their option to extend coach Rick Adelman’s contract for another season as expected last week, but did not stop there.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said he has begun talks to also sign assistant coaches Elston Turner, Jack Sikma, T.R. Dunn and R.J. Adelman.

"We did it (the Adelman extension), and now we’re working on bringing the assistants back as well," Morey said. "They’ve done an incredible job in very difficult circumstances. To not only have a great game plan every night, but to have brought the players along to help us win now, is a testament to the whole staff."

This is well deserved for Rick and co.

He really has outcoached the league, considering the injuries and personalities.

No real shock since Les did say he was going to do it, but it's deserved... 55 wins, 53 wins, and I think Rick's done a great job with this current cast.

Very deserving imo. Now, if we could figure out how to send Ariza to the bench...

I would love to see RA and crew with the Rockets for many more years to come.

How many wins did the rockets have before Adelman became the head coach? ;)

Good coach. I just wish the injury bug especially with big man would leave lolz.. Have you noticed Adelman's track record for big man and injuries? Is it the system you think or just freak injuries? Both ankles and knees seems to have hit his bigmen -the better ones he has coached.

coincidence . yao had injuries before RA and webber was just old. Ra doesnt run them into the ground like JVG was trying to do. If anything, Yaos career will last longer with RA.

Anyone know if he's a great teacher of the game. Is he good for young players growth and development. He is great tactician and clock manager, always seems to make the right moves and subs down the stretch.

Well deserved. I have to admit, I was not a big fan of the hire initially, but Adelman has proved to be a great coach.

Well I guess it is good, but they screwed Tmac, right?

    ;)

Good job extending a quality coach and his staff.

Great coach. Makes some questionable decisions, but a good coach nonetheless. Probably a good choice to give him an extension.

You think they would extend him for more than one year, but still good news.
