It is so early in the season, and Gattis has gone through a stretch like this before, but I can't ignore it. Sure the Wade Boggs comparison isn't actually fair, but he is the guy that comes to mind when I look at that BB:K ratio. .297/.413/.432 Slash line 15.2% BB rate 10.9% K rate He posted a career high BB-rate last year at 8.6% after being relatively steady the first 3 years of his career, but his K-rate was also a career high at 25.5%. I wonder has he changed something, is it just small sample size, or is it that he is being used less frequently so he is dealing with favorable matchups more often.
Did Boggs like hamburgers, too? I was half listening to an interview with Gattis this morning in which discussion was the places Gattis had a hamburger. State of Grace's Butter Burger was his favorite if I remember correctly. A side note to the burger discussion, Gattis also mentioned that he tries now to slow his heart rate down before entering the box to help him be more patient. He used to be so pumped up he couldn't hit and would swing at anything.
Gattis seems like he'd like those things too. I'm convinced he has been replaced with a Wade Boggs clone that had the defensive gene removed.
won't believe it until he drinks 14 beers in the club house then hits a homerun and a single. nonetheless, oso blanco in on the prowl. hibernation use to end around late May for him.
