Just got the January 2010 edition of esquire in the mail today. Cool piece on Yao Ming. Reminds me of how likeable and how just plain cool this guy is. If you're not an esquire reader, it's the wisdom he has amassed in his own words.
I felt that I twisted my ankle when I feel down. If it was a regular-season game, I probably would have come out and told the trainer we need to look at it. But it was a playoff game against the Lakers. The first home game. I twisted it again in the third quarter. then again in the fourth. I can't blame myself. No true player would want to leave the court in that situation. This was not about Chinese culture or American culture. It was about the culture of being a competitor. it is gonna be my new signature... thx for posting...nice read...
A great person and NBA player. Humankind is not hopeless after all. Good luck with the rehab Yao, and take it easy.
Heh... I liked the one about Chinese alcohol vs. American alcohol. "You don't find out the truth until the next morning."
I always wondered why he didn't dunk that much when he first came into the league. Great read, thanks!
This is hilarious: Our honeymoon was in Europe. One stop was Venice. Cost fifty dollars for a ride in the gondola. There was also the romantic package. Three hundred dollars. That gets a bottle of red wine and a man playing music. But I don't really drink red wine. And you can hear the music coming from the other boats. So the fifty-dollar package seemed like the way to go.
This is what happens when you have Shane on your team. Ten Appletini's later (light on the 'tini) and even a 7'6 man will feel it. Ok so he's got zero tolerance but still, he's 7'6!
Is his exactly how the article was done? I'm wondering if there was questions with it or were they just running off random Yaoisms?
