    From ESPN Insider:

Houston Rockets– The Rockets might have given away their draft picks the past few years with good reason (2003 went back to the Steve Francis trade, 2004 was an enticement to get Glen Rice off the cap), but boy could they use a little young blood right now.

Instead, the Rockets have kept their two-second round picks, Malik Badiane and Vasilis Spanoulis, in Europe hoping that they turn into NBA players down the road. The prognosis on both players has been generally positive, but they're both probably a few years away from being contributors.

I guess, but I was hoping they could contribute alot sooner considering our two biggest needs on the roster.

Agreed. If Badiane, for example, is still a few years away, then there is a strong likelihood that they could have picked someone else that year and Badiane last year, or maybe even next year...

...BUT, it's all a crapshoot at that point really.

I don't think Badiane would've made it out of the 2nd round from the articles I've read about the guy and his showing at that private workout.

the glen rice deal was pretty bad for us. it wasn't us who wanted glens contract off our books...it was the jazz who needed more contracts to reach the minimum salary allowed by the league. we should've gotten a pick out of it like NJ did this year when trading kittles to the clipps.

however i will let it slide because the TE we got from it helped land tmac.

    No,

    Come on now, be fair.....

I think he is an athletic freak...fast and quick ala Amare, however is very unrefined in his game.

I would just think that playing over here and at Fonde during the offseason would help him a lot more than playing in Germany.

I'm excited to see Spanoulis play.

Every time I see/hear the word prognosis, the phrase 'Prognosis Negative' pops in my head.

How many NBA players were drafted by a team....left over in Europe for a few years to "develope" and ended up coming into the NBA and being decent players?

I mean, if they are good enough to draft, they should be good enough to contribute something to the team NOW.

Sorry....talk of our failed drafting history always makes me angry!

Ginobili's one. Raul Lopez. Sabonis is not really the same situation but fits. Nenad Krstic (Nets, drafted 2002, in his first year) is coming around after the Carter trade. Louis Scola (Spurs) should be legit when he comes over.

JVG can not get enough of rookies!!! Bring them on; the players currently at the end of the bench are looking lonely.

I think Kirilenko did not join the Jazz until a year after he was drafted.

What about Rebraca, Okur, Radmanovic and Medvedenko?
