Didn't see this posted yet, it's from Bill Simmons' Page 2 column about the NBA offseason thus far. Nice tidbit about the Rockets:

"To my favorite summer signing: Houston grabbing Stro Swift for the mid-level exception. Now he can finally play 35-40 minutes a game and concentrate on the three things he does best -- running, jumping and dunking. Perfect team for him. Considering they played Juwan Howard, Clarence Weatherspoon, Scott Padgett, Vin Baker, Ryan Bowen and Julie Bowen at power forward last season, you could make a case that this was the single-biggest upgrade by any contender. In fact, I think I just did."

Here's the rest of the article:

(I also like the fact that he compares Brian Scalabrine to other high energy white guys and lists TWO of our very own: Padgett and Bowen)

And somewhere, on a Denver Nuggets message board, someone just posted about how ESPN never gives them any respect.

swift will prove to be the best move of the offseason. not by his own production, but by how much he improved our team and for the price we got him at.

Some of these writers need to be drug tested. We have Julie Brown playing power foward (I guess she's Bruce's wife). And in another article we had Damon Brown as a 3-point specialist for the Heat.

I'm assuming he was referring to Julie Bowen of Happy Gilmore/Ed/Boston Legal(this fall) fame.

i'm pretty sure julie bowen was a sarcastic comment playing off of ryan bowen (who he already mentioned) just to show how many sorry guys we had playing pf at some point last year.

Nevermind - I didn't even notice it was a Bill Simmons column. I can't take it seriously anymore. :)

Agree, if she is the one who played in the movie about Perseus and Andromeda -- oops, my bad. That was "Clash of the Titans" with Judi Bowker.

This article is false. I never saw Vin Baker play as a Rocket!

I like Bill Simmons' articles, and most other "Page 2" commentators (RIP Hunter S. Thompson). They're almost always a good read & quite funny. Not to be confused with some "seriuos" journo, but still one of the better things on espn.
