Morey 2nd round picks: Parsons Budinger Dorsey Landry Llull 3 of the 5 players are better than Morris, Llull would have been better if he decided to come down. I'll take that high 2nd round non guarantee pick with Morey drafting over Morris any day. He has more success in the 2nd round than in the 1st lol.
Why shouldn't they get one? They got Marcus Morris for a 2nd round pick. That's not a terrible deal on their part is it? Comparing what they gave up to what they received, it's an A for them. Marcus is probably their best PF already, and they got him for nothing
Shed a contract for next year. Plus Morey will draft the next Chandler Parsons with that 2nd rounder.
You're kidding right? We did it for a very good reason: max cap space in the off-season. Marcus Morris was a 'placeholder' in our squad for the more talented Jones/ Motieunas. He was always gone, preferably with nothing coming in return. Had we traded him for a first round pick it would've been worse than a 2nd, because a first rounder gives us guaranteed salary counting against the books next summer. At this rate we won't have a first round pick, which means all the more cap space to pursue that max FA, and possibly having to decline Delfino. The fact that PHX sux, and it's an upgrade for them does not mean we lose on the deal
I can't really see morey making stupid moves. Trading both your 4s is a hailmary sort of trade meaning there is somethign much bigger he is planning out...
i wish morey could have pried a point guard from the kings instead of garcia. we dont need another wing. we need a back up point guard. kings have like 4 point guards on their roster.
those are all hypotheticals, but like I said, morey must have something planned if he'd be willing to do this.
I was going to say the same thing. We were never going to get an early or mid 1st round pick for Morris, he's just not that good. I think most GMs now value an early 2nd round more than a late 1st round pick. Phoenix has the fifth worst record in the league, so it should be a pretty good pick. I like the trade.
I disagree, bottom line is this team is in the middle of a playoff run and have other players in place who know the system and have paid their dues to earn time. by all accounts Robinson could use some polish, and sending him down for the D League playoffs will provide him with an opportunity to get some consistant minutes. I don't see why the Rockets would change their MO regarding rookies simply based on where he was drafted by another team.
I think the fact that he averaged the same amount of rebounds as our previous starting PF in much less playing time is enough to give him a shot at the roster.
I like this trade! Sure we might loose a couple of more games without morris and pat, but in the long run this will give D-Mo and hopefully T Jones some more playing time!
i wasn't a morris fan, but this board cracks me up. if the roles were reversed and we traded a 2nd rounder for a recent #14 pick, no matter who he was, everybody would be saying "OMG MOREY DID IT AGAIN A 2ND ROUNDER FOR A 14TH PICK!!!"
he plays like an undersized 5 at the moment. if he is taking minutes it will be at the expense of Smith.
Because a 2nd round pick on a **** team is worth more in trade than a late 1st rounder or a mediocre role player.
Probably Smith or Jones, or he could just as likely be sent to Rio Grande... But I would give him a shot cause he can rebound and that is a need for us.
