http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/fbc/7364248.html BRISTOL, Conn. — ESPN has fired announcer Ron Franklin after he reportedly berated a female colleague. Franklin did play-by-play for Houston Oilers games from 1971-82. The network had pulled him from its radio coverage of Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl, and Franklin issued a public apology Monday. Sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards wrote in an e-mail to USA Today in response to Internet reports Monday that Franklin called her “sweet baby” in a condescending tone Friday. When she objected, he used a derogatory term. Edwards said a colleague reported the incident to ESPN officials. ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys said Tuesday that “based on what occurred last Friday, we have ended our relationship with him.” Franklin had worked for ESPN since 1987, calling primarily college football and basketball. He focused on the Big 12 in recent years. According to a Washington Post article, this is just the latest controversial episode for Franklin.
I guess he needs to work on his interpersonal skills...that or work on his game to pick up the ladies...
So uh, let's just say they hired a black guy for "minority reasons"... You know what, nevermind... I'm either going to get banned or start some 30 page D&D s**t-storm if I continue this.
Here's the 64 dollar question that everyone is asking: Jeannine Edwards or Holly Rowe? Considering that Jeannine is rocking the black boots, I'll go with her.
Hehe, it is realist....you don't hire Erin Andrews to talk about football right out of college because of her understanding or experience in the game. Sexy Sells..... DD
But the woman we're talking about here isn't one that you would think would get to the top based on her looks.
True, but I guess that depends upon when she was hired, or what the person hiring prefers.... Also, to be fair. I know Ron Franklin, played softball with his son for more than 10 years...he was a good 3rd baseman.....so I am going to be a bit biased here. And honestly, Ron should know better..... My guess is though, he will be back in under a year.....same thing like Marv Albert wearing womens underwear on his head. To be brutally honest, most of the audience for Football is men, and they won't have any lasting impression on Ron from this.......and he is an excellent announcer. DD
