    The Houston Astros signed journeyman outfielder Trenidad Hubbard to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, team officials announced Thursday.

    Hubbard, 38, spent the 2004 season at Triple-A Iowa in the Chicago Cubs organization and hit .330 with nine home runs and 49 RBIss.

    He was originally drafted by the Astros in 1986 and spent seven years in the team's minor league system.

    In parts of 10 Major League seasons, Hubbard has played for Colorado, San Francisco, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Baltimore, Kansas City, San Diego and Chicago. He has a career batting average of .257 with 16 home runs and 72 RBIss.

    Looks like we drafted a guy, had him develop in another organization for 10 years, just to get him back.

    if we are going along the lines of drafting someone then sending them off to mature to one day aquire them once they are over the hill why didnt we give kenny lofton a call?

    Man, I thought it was a mistypo when it was mentioned a 38 yr old minor leaguer signing with us. I was thinking the article must have meant he is 28 yrs old :eek:

    MOOOO MOOOO..... lol....i guess CF is becoming our prob now these days like how our SS position was for yrs....how many SS have we gone through now.....took over 10 yrs to have a guy that is gonna play everyday....lol....

    Hubbard's winter league stats are very solid, believe it or not and he still gots speed.

    I'm telling you we should sign Rickey Henderson to see what he can still do. Do you really think this guy is at 38 is better than the greatest leadoff man ever at umm...46?

    Regardless, we are winning the WS this year. We will jump out to a great start this April, May and June and no NL Central team will catch up with us.
