Kind of sad how Dwight's career is ending. Dude still has a lot left in the tank if he just focused on blocking shots and rebounding and scoring via rim rolls and put backs. But nope. Honestly hope he retires or is finally able to accept how the league is today and his limitations.
To be fair to Dwight, he was injured & barely played last year & had nothing to do with role, touches or anything like that. Could be the end of the line? Carmelo & Dwert "forced" into retirement.
Looking in hindsight, his career effectively ended after Orlando. SVG was the only coach who was able to effectively build an offense around him. He’ll still get in the hall of fame, but it really is a sad ending.
2004-12: Magic 2013: Lakers 2014-16: Rockets 2017: Hawks 2018: Hornets 2018: Nets 2019: Wizards 2019: Grizzlies 2020: ?
Fun fact: Dwight Howard & Miles Plumlee were traded for each other & are now (temporarily) teammates.
I hate to say this but the Rockets are a great example of why you wouldn’t sign him. I would rather give Hartenstein minutes to develop. Dwight is not even a rotation player at this point.
Looking at the raw skill, Dwight is definitely an NBA player still. The problem is, he comes with a ton of baggage, and has a bad reputation as a teammate. Also delusional about what he can actually do.
Y'all are missing the real story here and that the grizzlies front office made this move to get more under the cap to do MORE deals. You better hide your kids, hide your wife. The grizzlies are on that grind.
