I am becoming a Luddite and dream of dumping my iPhone for something simplier. I loved the old Motorola phones with candy bar designs. I even liked the Nokia ones. But man these phones are rare compared to the thousands of garbage level smartphones out there. Did they stop making candy bar phones for US markets? I honestly can’t find one that isn’t 2G or for old people who can’t see as well anymore.
@OP: Why can't you just use your iPhone for its call function? Whether you have a nokia brick phone or an iPhone X, at its very foundation, a phone is still a phone. You may have to install the occasional update here and there, but it's not like you have to use any apps or anything.
I am guessing the phone is no longer the primary function of the phone for a vast majority of people.
Indeed. My technology is primed for a comeback. OP, imagine: no texts, no data plan, and 2 lbs of manly analog tech in your hand. Every call will make you feel like you're calling in an airstrike! It will make you feel alive.
Nokia reintroduced the dumb phone a few weeks ago. Enjoy. They updated it to support UMTS (3G) and HSPA (3G+) so while it doesn't have LTE you'll at least get UMTS/HSPA support on TMobile and AT&T. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nokia-...ffcode=pg266340&ksdevice=c&lsft=ref:212,loc:2
I was thinking about this the other day. All I need is a transponder the size of a pen that can do Bluetooth, WiFi, and maybe a Mic. It can only tether or take calls. I could then use a tablet or whatever without caring about upgrading when my two years are up.
Nokia has recent candy bar and flip phones. Samsung has a flip phone with display on inside and outside the flip-cover.
Whats funny is they offer a protect your phone warranty plan of 1 year for 20 and a 2 year for 30. LOL, as if that thing couldnt fall off a 10 story building and still not have a scratch on it. Good try Best Buy, A for effort.
