With Cal running the show makes me wonder if DB would still be here if he was running it 2 years ago.
Who we are trying to replace with someone that cost us 2 x 1 and 1 X 2.... and we will end up paying far more than Brown ever asked for contract wise.... not to mention that Brown is the better player. Doesn’t sound like we came out of this all that great.
We traded him for Lonnie Johnson, they just cut (or traded, if you want to spin it that way) the other half of that trade after 1 year.

They did not get along with coach BoB and/or owner Bob. That's 2 Pro Bowl OL - Brooks and Brown - and 1 Pro Bowl DL who have been given away for nothing because of the coaches/FO, just in the last, what, 3 years?
Wow did DB make All-Pro last year? Did he really play that well? Where did he rank on that list that had Tunsil 11th? Yeah but Brooks had the undiagnosed emotional issue. It's a shame we didn't catch it but I don't fully fault the FO like I would for letting go of great player in waiting because they didn't evaluate him properly physically/skill-wise.
Brooks and BoB did not like each other at all, I'm sure that the underlying anxiety (which was diagnosed as an ulcer by the Texans) had everything to do with that, and/or was exacerbated by it. Brooks basically said that BoB was the reason he left the Texans. Giving away top-shelf talent and replacing it with mediocre draft picks and FAs is not a good way to run a football team.
