3 picks to trade up to draft Tyler Lockett and got outfoxed and had to settle on Strong. We're talking football, right?
Another 3 picks on Nix...losing compensatory picks for cutting Owen Daniels and Manning. These things add up and kill depth.
Hopefully not. But as important as the LT is, they should have had a better plan for that position knowing Brown could be out for as many as 4 games. Maybe more. This past draft would have been a good time to plan the grooming of Brown's replacement.
Nix personified everything O'Brien does not want in his players. Tough? Nope. Smart? Questionable. Football important to him? He'd rather eat wrong, play video games, and avoid the cold(recovery) tub.
"If we really like a player and we have conviction on this player, like we know we have a consensus that the scouting staff and the coaching staff like this player, we have a vision, we know where this guy is going to fit, let's go get him," O'Brien said recently in a season ticket holder conference call. "So if we feel like we're going to lose him, let's trade up and go get him." "I don't know if that's been done a lot around here before," O'Brien said. "But I give Rick credit, he did it. He did it twice, and we were able to get some good players. Again, those guys need to go out and play now. But we feel good about where they are." http://www.battleredblog.com/2015/5/19/8626431/texans-2015-nfl-draft-trades-explained-by-obrien Gotta love the dig at the previous regime, even though most of the good players on the team 3 years later are holdovers.
Texans trade up for someone they want and we get whining by the fans. Texans don't trade up and we get whining from the fans. Texans trade back and we get whining from the fans Texans don't trade back and we get whining from the fans. Just another day in paradise.
Texans pass on Mack to take Clowney. Texans pass on Carr to take a mythical offensive lineman that never plays. Texans spend 5 draft picks for Strong and Nix. Just another day at Reliant for Bob and the bumbling boobs. Maybe they should spend less time trying to covertly support discrimination and Sumday brunches and more time studying football.
You know this how? What's weird is how you constantly make judgements on football players that you have no business judging (besides Nix) to support your flimsy agenda. It's like beating a dead horse. A dead horse that nobody wanted in the first place.
A move literally every team would have made. I disagreed with that too, but that "mythical O lineman" is a starter now at a position of need.....so...yeah. Sure, and it didn't work out, but again, you'd complain one way or the other. Remember when the Ravens traded up ahead of the Texans for Arthur Brown who ended up a bust....yeah Texans fans were really upset about it and were calling for Smith's head over it. Remember when the Vikings traded up ahead of the Texans to draft a mediocre QB? Yeah SOME Texans fans are still up in arms about that. That's going to be the narrative from a certain segment of the fanbase no matter what. I mean, to listen to you crazies you REALLY wouldn't think that the Texans won their division 3 of the last 5 years and that they weren't the overwhelming favorite to do so again this season. I'm not sure what you're talking about here, but this sounds like mindless D&D nonsense, you might want to keep the stupid in that forum if you are capable.
Why is it OK to call Nix a bust and not strong? Strong shows up his rookie year 30 pounds overweight then gets busted for pot before his second year. And observers are saying Will Fuller will start over strong. Heck maybe even Braxton will get more touches. That's not what we wanted when we traded 3 picks to get him
Don't forget cutting Manning and losing a compensatory pick then subsequently re-signing him. Or cutting Owen Daniels and losing a compensatory pick then watching him catch super bowl TDs while our TEs can barely hold onto the ball. And what was with trading a pick to move up one spot this year? Twice? Did teams threaten to take the guy we wanted? People were like "those mid and low draft picks never pan out" (nevermind Newton or Covington for starters). A few extra low picks on cheap deals would be nice right about now
A couple of you guys are essentially making this forum unreadable. You know who you are, and you need to stop sucking so much.
Just amother day in reality that texans have sucked from day 0 when the first words uttered were boselli. you talk like they have done anything when 14 YEARS of facts tell us otherwise. where you been? cmon dude
