If you had to take one of these players and keep him for the next seven years on your team, who would you choose?
Considering Ibaka's defense has declined the past couple of years and he never developed much of an offensive game outside shooting three-pointers, I'll go with Green who's a legitimate DPOY-caliber defender, rebounds, can handle the ball and pass, and shoot three-pointers decently.
I'll take the nut-kicking, moving screen setting, tackling, and taunting Green until he's no longer allowed to play that way and is rendered a role player.
Yes, this. As long as he's allowed to taunt other players and scream in refs faces without them doing anything about it, I'll take him on my team any day.
this shouldn't even be a close one. Ibaka is extremely limited in the way he can impact a game. It comes down to mainly defense for him but even that impact can come in spurts now and his ability to knock down open jumpers. His role isn't much more than that. DG can effect a game in a variety of ways with his versatility whether it would be scoring, passing, defensively, energy, etc..
remember those fun times when we'd run up the score on the warriors with threes and when one of their rookies got bothered by it, we all were like who the f' is this guy. that guy turned out to be daymond green. draymond? draymond!
yep, pretty boy Parsons was the guy who made a comment disrespecting Draymond for being a nobody. Now look who's laughing.
If you can get a guy that is allowed to foul people on both sides of the court and not be called for it AND is allowed to get up in refs faces and scream at them without a technical foul called you take him any day over the guy that just blocks shot. Being able to foul without a call being made can make a good team a great team.
Green is the second or third best player on the best team. Ibaka is the third or fourth best player on a very good team.
Do we get the Green that gets away with murder from the officials? If so, then Green ALL THE WAY. Green does a lot for GSW that gets overlooked. He and Thompson do enough that Curry doesn't have to play defense. Ibaka, as good as he is, isn't on Green's level. Now, call those Ts, dick kicks, and everything in between and we got ourselves a guy that might have trouble staying on the floor. Then, I'd take Ibaka over him.
As previously stated by other posters, Warriors treatment Green would be great but on any other team he gets T'ed up waaay more and his grabbing, fouling, moving screens, tripping, kicking, ref disrepecting and yelling actually get punished. So his value in any other team goes down but how much? That's the real question.
Green is not the best player on the gas team but I think he is the most important player. Gsw seems to perform badly when he plays bad.
Wow. How is Ibaka getting so many vote??? This is not even close. This is like comparing Kevin Martin to James Harden. Break it down: 1.) Shooting: Draymond 2.) Defense: Draymond Not even close anymore. 2nd straight year, 2nd DPOY. Ibaka isn't even a good defender now, he was once great. Don't know what happened to his defense 3.) Passing: Draymond One guy leads all non-guard in Assist with 7 a game. The other game makes Yinka Dare look like Magic with less than 1 assist a game 4.) Rebounding: Draymond 9 rebounds for Dray. 6 rebounds for Ibaka. How is someone built like Ibaka getting only 6 rebounds in 32 minutes???? 5.) Leadership: Draymond The Leader of 2 time champs with best record in history of NBA. When they were down 20 points to the Pelican in the 2nd half in the playoff last year, Curry said, "let's make this close." Draymond said, "No, we play to win. If you're not out there to win, you don't need to be out there." When the Warriors were down 2 to 1 against Cavs, he blamed himself. He told everyone he sucked and he need to play better to make his teammates better. He told everyone he was playing scared and that's why his team was down. Nevermind the fact that Curry was sucking and Bogut was useless. He took all the blame away from Curry. He said the same thing when OKC took them down 3-1. Nevermind Curry was sucking again, he blamed himself for playing like crap and he told everyone the team sucked because he sucked. Taking pressure away from the MVP, which really sucked
Don't buy the "it's the refs that allow him to do what he does" narrative. Yes, he gets away with a lot. But he can do what he does not because of those non-calls. If the refs called it straight, he would stop doing those things, but he would still be able to score, defend, assist, dribble, etc. on a high level. It's like saying Karl Malone would only be a role player if he wasn't so dirty.
