James needs to adjust. They're giving him the lane so pull up and bury some free throw line 2s or bring back the euro step.
He got away with it the first 2 games. But he did a great job without fouling last game and was pretty good g3
So no one has noticed that Harden has basically stopped doing the Euro step and that it would be highly effective against Gobert on the drive?
truth is for all his game he isn't nearly good enough with his right , he would be layin it everytime if he was
It works when our role players are missing their wide open shots (like they did against the bucks, which is why people think it works) and when you have a great rim protector. Otherwise it will not work. It is funny how during games the commentators focus on what the Jazz are doing wrong, and not focus on how Amazing Harden is that one of the best defensive teams plays a totally different defence just to stop him. Just like after the Jazz win one of them said "see what happens if you play your own game". Implying that the Jazz would win more games if they played their normal defence (even though they did not play differently in game 4, our role players just missed everything). People are blaming the Jazz for us destroying them, they do not want to give us credit for it.
We are having a little bit of regression to the mean for Harden. 30 ppg instead of 36 in the playoffs against one of the best defenses in the NBA. The national broadcasters spend 90% of the time talking about how great the Jazz are, yet the Rockets almost took them out in four. I think part of it is the media want more games as it makes them more money.
The NBA seems ok with teams playing illegal against us The number of defensive three seconds 'missed is ridiculous Seems the same on the other end Gobert and Favors live in the lane Rocket River
I thought he tried a Euro step once in game 4 or game 3 and it was called a travel. I could be mistaken.
This defense works well when Gobert can camp in the paint for 24 seconds. Also when you can play defense like this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why would the Euro step be effective against Gobert? He has good feet in the paint and can adjust for that Euro pretty well. Harden used to do it against him and we struggled mightily. People forget that a few years ago the Jazz with Gobert was considered kryptonite for us because he totally shut down Harden in the paint. The weapon Harden needs is the floater (or some other short range shot) that he can get off over Gobert when his defender leaves the lane open. He's blowing the floater so far this series which is a cause for concern.
Also To stop Capela....the rotation is to bowling ball into Capela Not block out....not pick...but divebomb into him No fouls called there And Capela cannot jump7 And if bumped out of position In football it is pass interference Rocket River
Here is the rub The defense of the floater is angle over HARDEN NOT VERTICALITY But they allow gobert to so that...ergo fouling HARDEN but They say he. Stays vertical Which is a lie. Rocket River
