It’s funny how much b****ing and complaining was done about Harden isolations back then. How that was all he ever did when in reality he isolated a handful of times per game. Nothing like now.

McHale was responsible for starting narrative that Harden selfish player and not a leader.

Loved to use excuse that ball was sticky if Rockets lost.

McHale deserves as much credit for making Harden the greatest iso player as Max Kellerman.

Harden was logging a lot of lumber on those McHale teams.

I would say a little bit. He allowed Harden to really expand his game while he was here.

Maybe in some backwards unintentional twisted way, born out of Mchales laziness. Plus, it would be weird to see a student who has succeeded call his old mentor "a clown", like Harden rightfully called Mchale.

And that Harden was fat and couldn't close out games.
    Once McHale got fired.

It's interesting because when Harden first started all the iso'ing under McHale people cried - not just LOFs either. It wasn't just ugly but it wasn't very effective. But McHale did stick with it...for what reason is unknown, and Harden improved a lot.

So I do give the coaching staff credit for giving him that room to grow.

Stop the hate, he did give Harden a little bit of a push to do this.

Check out the roster of MacHale's last full season. CF of today would dump massive feces on almost every player:
    Ariza
    Beverley
    Howard
    D Mo
    Terrence Jones
    Jason Terry
    Joey Dorsey
    Tarik Black
    Isaiah Canaan
    Josh Smith
    Corey Brewer
    Papanikolau

These are the players who started any game that season.
"Dood, that's a great roster from pre-Tilman Fercheapskate! Steve Kerr would win a chip with that. PISSED!"

Harden already had the skillset to be an amazing iso player when he was traded to the Rockets. Morey basically handed him the team, which in turn allowed Harden to open his game.
