I'm not sure how much of a physical tutor he has been, but I hear he is very vocal towards them.

Does anyone know if the Rockets organization has ever talked to Murph about becoming some kind of coach for the team?
I know he annoys a lot of people, but I really believe his basketball knowledge could really help the guards a lot. The kids seem to really respect him. At the same time, Murph looks like the kind of guy who doesnt take crap from youngsters, so he might be able to deflate our guards' big heads a little.
I see absolutely no reason the Rockets have for not talkin this dude into becoming a coach. Unless he already helps on the side, as was mentioned in an earlier post.

He gives advice. But he also doesn't want to overstep his boundaries by going over Rudy's head.

    He respects Rudy.

Why would Calvin Murphy want to give up a good paying job with minimal responsibilities for a little more money and a whole lot more problems? He already has great seats and interacts with the players as often as he wants to just like DavidS mentioned.

Yeah, I remember about 3-4 years ago Calvin walked off the job or something. Some type of disagreement with the Rockets staff.

Murph got into 4 fights in his career, all with guys 6'8" or taller. I used to be able to name them, but haven't a clue now. Anyone know who they were?

Here's a clip from "The Punch."

"He (Calvin) had been a Golden Gloves boxer as a teenager, and unlike most of the league's players, he actually knew how to fight. Unofficially he had been in 17 fights full-fledged fights during eight years in the league and had never lost. The fight that people remembered most was one against Sidney Wicks, then of the Boston Celtics. Like Washington (Kermit), Wicks was 6'8" and about 225lbs. Murphy had jumped into the air, grabbed Wicks by his Afro, pulled him down to his level, and punched into submission."

Calvin talks alot with players before the games. He usually talks to Yao an extra amount. So far out of the games i have seen, he is always wishing Yao luck before the games.
