Does acquiring PAU make MARC a more viable possibility?

    So, everyone says that Memphis will match anything anyone offers, but if this deal goes through as being reported (Martin/Scola for Pau), it clears up a little more space. Minus Hayes, amnesty Thabeet, and we can offer a fat contract to Marc. Those two HAVE to be excited about the prospect of playing together, and a Gasol bros. frontcourt is monstrous.

    Thoughts?

    it makes it more likely only because now Marc would have real interest in playing here....but i dont think that's saying much because he's a RFA and Mem is suppose to match anything.

    The problem is that we'd have to amnesty Thabeet to even make Marc an offer. If Memphis matches, then we would have wasted our Amnesty for nothing.

    On the other hand, there really is no downside to waiving Thabeet, so let's do it anyway.

    the grizz will match any offer that isn't completely overpaying. that being said offering $11M is an offer marc might sign. before this trade we could only offer 7.

    The only way I see this happening is if Marc signs a one year deal and comes here next summer or via trade during the season. Not gonna happen.

    Offer a max contract - if Memphis matches, then they have to figure out what to do next. With Gay and Randolph already at close to max deals they have to get creative.
