Seeing KD leave OKC, will that have an impact on Harden? Given that this team is not likely to compete for a ring the next few years, what will Harden do?
Not sure, the won't there be another CBA deal? I think the money will keep him here, a full 5 year max with full 7.5% raises, no income tax, compared to a 4 year 4.5% raises deal with state income tax is a pretty big difference. Harden is about 3 things in the world, fat booty women, cooking on the court and CASH.
It's way too early to say at this point. If the Rockets don't improve substantially over the next two years, he's probably gone. But if they see a marked improvement and add some other major pieces between now and then, I think they've got a very good chance to re-sign him. Considering he'll be 29 when he signs that deal, I think that fifth year will be pretty important to him. This is likely the biggest contract he'll ever sign in the NBA, so he'd have to be pretty unhappy not to take a five-year max deal. But in today's NBA, where a player pretty much just has to ask to be traded, he could force his way out of Houston and make the Rockets do a sign and trade to get the full max he really wants.
The rockets don't have a history of players bolting for a better opportunity. This has always been a place players want to come to, not leave. It'll never happen
You can't tell right now. I personally think Harden is very loyal and committed to Houston, but if we're as bad as last season the next couple years, it's possible he leaves.
LOL the guy can't even commit to minimum defense for his teammates and you expect him to commit to his team/city on free agency? LOL
If you were him, would you stay? I don't see any reason for him to stay. He knows first hand of Le$ stupid meddling, mauri's view of assets, and the ugly ass spacesuit uniforms. By the end of the next season, I don't see the Rockets being a better destination than somewhere in the East Coast where he can build a new super team with an easier road to the finals.
a) the 5th year in the contract seems not to make a difference to players who have huge shoe deals or have learned lots of $ in their carreer. b) Harden seems to like the bright lights c) our team is treadmilling and has no chance to win in the next two years and we will be lucky to win a round in the playoffs. so yes. He will not sign here.
