Does mgmt and/or Francis read this BBS?

Apparently negotiations regarding Steve's extension are supposed to include discussions of the direction of the team regarding the commitment to winning.

    Tell them what you think...

    do you question Mgmt's direction?

my vote: No. Griffin was a great pick. MoT is a fine longterm pickup, and Kenny developing nicely. Yao and Nach make sense and look like the real deal.

    Of course not.

That is ... of course I don't question the committment to winning.
The record is clear. No sal. dumps. Plenty of Matt Maloney deals.
Les wants to win, will play right by the players.

I don't question their desire to win, I believe they are doing everything within their means to put a winning product out. However, they have made a few glaring mistakes. Such as overpaying for role players, i.e. MoT, Cato, Moochie. The Glen Rice trade was another mistake, as was passing on Rashard Lewis. Of course there are others.
I know what some of you will say, "hindsight is 20/20," "Nobody is perfect," both of which are true. But it seems to me that with the exception of the Bryce Drew over Rashard draft, these were moves that could have and should have been prevented.

just vote...there are other threads to argue.

do you think mgmt must do more or is stupid/mistake prone enough to ruin their opportunities

do you think mgmt does as much as any team to field a winner

I believe that Rudy & CD are mistake prone when it comes to handing out contracts.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Rudy, CD and Less are 100% commited to winning at all costs.

I changed the question from "commitment" to

Is mgmt going in the "Right Direction?"

The answer again is a resounding yes. I think mistakes have been made in the past, but all in all there have been more good than bad desicions.

My vote is for Les, CD and Rudy wanting to win at all costs.

I love the moves they have made the last few years. No one hits on all of the moves and everyone makes a few mistakes (passing on Lewis in the draft, trading for Rice, signing Cato to a fat contract) but the Rockets managment have been great at putting talent on this team despite its mistakes. No team has done more wheeling and dealing for major talent the last few years than Les, CD and Rudy.

    Edited for the following:

    The 5 man nucleus:
Yao Ming - first dominate center to come along in years
Eddie Griffin - superstar in the making
Nachbar - A prototypical 6'9" small forward that can drive or shoot lights out
Cat - a bigger steal in 98 than Rashard
Francis - all star point guard

the rest of the 8 man rotation:
    Moochie, KT and MoT

Hell yes we are moving in the right direction. And thats my vote.

I think management does as much as they can to win. I do not question their direction in the slightest.

i think there has been mistakes in the past , but that's

how the business is, and that's how it's going to be

and there will be mistakes to come, but i think

rudy and cd have been doing there best to keep this team

up to par. and think nothing else other than winning

Well let's see... We got Pippen, Barkley, Rice, Griffin, and Francis all for the sake of winning. So what would make one think the mgmt wants to lose?

Lets say it this way. I would much rather lose Francis than Rudy and CD.

    rudy and cd bring in:

    yao
    griff
    nachbar
    cat
    steve
    moT
    mooch
    kt
    rice
even cato had a good year

    they are developing:
    collier
    Tmo
    tierre
    oscar

they still have the MCE to bring in a solid player to make the 12 man roster.

i would say i agree with rudy and cd. 'cause thats looking REAL good! :D

i think management is doing a great job rebuilding this team -- and in a relatively short time.

hp -- i think you may be blowing francis' comments out of perspective -- i read them more as generic "it ain't about the money" gobbleygook. what's he gonna say? -- "it's all about the money right now -- I'm trying to position myself for the most I can possibly get" -- don't believe everything you read

I think the Rocks Managment is the best in the biz and this team will surprise a lot of people.

Yao is a LOT better then most people think, and Griffin is ready to explode.

All we need is a healthy Mo T and Rice and 3 or 4 seed is possible.

Is it any coincidence that we've missed the playoffs for the last three years while a cry baby like Francis has been our leader?

Francis can shove his GM capabilities up his ass!

if you blame francis for us missing the playoffs the last three seasons, then i guess you can blame him for rice's injuries, mo's injuries, dream's injuries, etc. then you can blame him for making dream leave as well. and also for playing w/o veteran leadership for most of the season.

c'mon. you want to blame the guy, blame him with just cause...don't do it blindly.

and YES the rockets mgmt are heading towards the right direction.
