The way I see it, the Rockets should either get COY or MVP. To get both would be shocking, to get neither would be a disgrace.

I think SMOTY and COY are very likely....

    An outside shot for EOTY

    MVP...well, lets not go there.

When we were on track for 60 wins it was one thing, but now we are going to be mid 50s. Hard to see all those awards being handed out to this team when there are other teams having great years.

Unlikely Morey wins anything in my opinion, he's just hated on for pushing this style.

D'Antoni? Maybe, but considering the drop off I'll say no. He already works against the bias that exists against him, and now that we aren't a 60 win juggernaut it's easy to just dismiss him.

By recognizing how amazing the turnaround has been, you're conveniently not acknowledging how awful they were to need that turnaround in the first place. Awards shouldn't only be given for one-half of the season, and that team was atrocious for 41 games.

I don't think so. Voters have it in their minds that you can't repeatedly reward different people for the same success, and I don't really disagree with them. I'm not going to be upset if D'Antoni comes up short, and I don't think Morey has any chance.

Oh hey look, another idiotic jinx thread.

    CoY isn't happening.
    MVP isn't happening.

I think we get sixth man.
    There's a shot at EoY.

Exactly, and well deserved. We'll see if it plays out that way. It should, Plowman, in my humble opinion.

Doc Rivers COTY win was a mistake. He took a Chuck Daly team that was 33-17 (.660) and made the playoffs in the strike-shortened previous season and coached them to a .500 record, missing the playoffs. He should have never been COTY, but for some reason the sports media is enamored with the guy.

Regarding Spoelstra, yes, the Heat have been sterling since that atrocious start. But we can't forget that the crappy coach who guided such a good team to an 11-30 record for the first HALF of the season was also Eric Spoelstra.

Could you throw Capella in the mix for most improved?
Unfortunately I think we'll end up with 6MOTY only.

Merryl Streep is always nominated and really can't remember when she's won.

I don't think Mike should win coach of the year . This is harden carrying us . The system is nice, but Mike hasn't done enough to balance out its flaws . We also make some dumbass strategical decisions .

If the MVP goes to the best player , the COY should go to the best coach . Pop is the best coach and his team is competing for the 1 seed . He deserves it . The Utah coach has a case in taking a team with no superstars up to number 4 . Boston coach might have a case too . I honk Dantoni should be in the mix , but in no way do I think he should win it .

6th man of the year is a lock.

Harden should easily win MVP, and I know the media really plays up every other candidate, but I think the voters do the right thing.

Morey and Dantoni could be legitimate winners but I don't think the voters go straight ballot Rockets. But based on expectations at the start of the season plus what happened last year, those 2 guys deserve a lot of credit.
