Do the Rockets have the best all-time list of players who they didn't draft???

Another thread was talking about how great SEA/OKC drafted in getting Durant/Westbrook/Harden, and I realized how many great players the Rockets have had that they did not draft. I'm not saying the Rockets are bad at drafting, I mean they got The Dream, Yao etc. , but it seems like they have gotten more great players in other methods (trades, free agency) than any other team.

Here's the list I came up with: (I know that some of these didn't play that great with the Rockets, but I'm just talking in general for their careers)

    James Harden
    Dwight Howard
    Josh Smith
    Tracy McGrady
    Dikembe Mutombo
    Charles Barkley
    Clyde Drexler
    Scottie Pippen
    Moses Malone

I agree that it is probably the Lakers. However, I don't think you could really include Gary Payton or Karl Malone on their list. Even though they are big names, they were both way past their prime and just chasing rings when they joined the Lakers.

Also remember that the trade that they got Pau Gasol which helped them to win a couple of championships, they were forced to trade Marc Gasol, who has turned into a pretty stinkin' good player of his own.

By the same token, probably can't include Pippen and Mutombo on the Rockets.

Barkley was ring chasing too, though he was still decent.

I'm going to add Kobe to that list. Remember it was the Hornets that actually drafted him. Although several teams passed on him because they needed size, Kobe was also threatening to play in Italy if selected by the Nets or Hornets. He whined his way to LA. Or at least that's how I'm going to remember it.

I kinda understand all the hatred this team gets. But at the same time, you have to hand it to management for not tanking and willing to stay in draft purgatory for 3-4 years after Yao went down. Besides, fans of other teams are lying to themselves when they say they wouldn't love to be in our position.

Well, this is a better thread than one about who the Astros traded away: Mike Cuellar, Joe Morgan, Cesar Geronimo, Jack Billingham, Rusty Staub, Kenny Lofton, Caminiti, Steve Finley, Roy Oswalt, etc. I love the Astros, but am thankful for the Rockets.
