coming out of the West has always been more daunting than being in the East and only having to get through Lebron

I have no doubt that the Rockets would make the ECF, and I think we could compete really well against the Cavs. In the West we have to face the MVP, a 61 win team, and a damn all star squad just to make the finals. In the East, we'd be facing teams like the Hawks, Pacers, Celtics, and Wizards. None of those teams are scary.

Ridiculous, it is way easier to reach the finals in the East than the West. Like someone said, you ONLY have to get through Lebron in the East. In the west you have to beat a Cavs calibur team 2-3 times just to make it to the finals

So true. If Spurs and Rockets are the east, they would be playing in the finals instead of losing to the Warriors.

OKC would have won the Finals last year if they were in the East. In the East, you have to go only through the Cavs. In the West, you have to go through at least 3 teams that are better or just as good as the Cavs.

I didn't think about it but now apparently Lowry wants to go to the West to avoid Lebron. So..I don't know.
And the West may have more good teams, but Lebron is the best player in the league by far. And someone like him alone is enough to send most teams packing.

    Why go to the extremes?

LeBron + Cavs (LeBron + Heat prior) were probably small factors to consider for players during free agency. Also... it is a factor. Go watch interviews of all the players LeBron has dominated over the years in the Eastern playoffs. They are tired of losing to the man lol.

This, and it's ridiculous to say otherwise. If you're the 2 seed in the East, you can make it to the ECF without breaking a sweat. Hopefully, you build your team around beating LeBron, and it works. If it doesn't, you go back to the drawing board and try again. In the West, you can have the talent of the Clippers or OKC and go nowhere for years.

there's a reason it been called the leastern conference for years now.
Those teams suck at building a squad. You stay in the east for the money.

Bold. I'd say top 3 for sure...clippers are flaky but I might throw the Jazz in there, so I'd say 4 western teams would have a shot

I don't know about the past but recently players stayed away from the East to avoid Jerry Lin and the empire he is building at Brooklyn.

Get away with that nonsense. Dubs are the only team beating them.

They are avoiding the crap spring-time weather. Miami and orlando excluded. Could you imagine having to spend January in Philly or Detroit?

This is crock of ish..If anything Lebron has avoided coming to the West to protect his "brand". As long as he's in the east he'll be guaranteed a free pass to the finals every year. I'm 100% sure he's aware if you build a "superfriends" trio, theres virtually nobody in the east good enough to stop you

Of course. Players are smart. They started going to the West while LeBron was in junior high school knowing that he would go to the East.

Lebron is the best player, but u still only have to worry about beating 1 team in the EC. The Cavs would be incredibly hard to beat, but I think every Rockets fan would wish that they were in the East, and there's a reason for that.

The West has too much talent and too many good teams. Watch, the All-NBA teams will be dominated by players from the WC.
