The Texans signed the prize of the 2016 free agent class and paid him a lot of money.

For some reason people act like McNair doesn't want to spend money. The Texans spend. They just spend more on guys that haven't worked out.

They have almost 30 million in unused cap space most of which was gained by trading Os.

They had almost 10 mil in unused cap space during the 2017 offseason.

They've only spent big in FA (Excluding Os) in the 2010 offseason after a 6-10 debacle when Smith and Kubiak both shuld've been fired.

    Rowotorld:

Deshaun Watson (knee) expects to be "full go" for Texans training camp next week.

"I feel great," Watson said on NFL Network. "I’m getting ready for next week when we report to The Greenbrier; I’m going to be full-go." Long billed as "ahead of schedule," Watson was spotted without a brace in minicamp. The Texans are not going to take any risks with their franchise player, but it is looking like he will see preseason reps.

No team should be looking to spend every single off-season. Most often than not; they don't work. Philosophy is build through the draft. Retain your home-grown talents. And add complementary (and every now and then, key) pieces through free agency.

You're still harping on another man's pocket book. Why are you so enamored about the 30 million they saved.

He wanted Nate Soldier, that's where this all stems from.

And making Soldier the highest paid OL in the league prob would’ve been bashed by him and other overly pessimistic fans once Soldier starts playing like the very average player he is. He’s decent but again not worth anything close to what the giants gave him

In an effort to get slightly back on track, I think he’s basically all the way back, which is amazing

Guys football is almost back, which is followed shortly by basketball and the baseball playoffs, the sports dark days are almost over

Agreed, it would have been a very foolish decision to overpay him even more than he was.

Is this guy even any good? Yall are really hyping him up to be the next great thing.... His arm isnt even that strong, hes not accurate and his decision making looks iffy with so many ints.

That was his problems coming out of college, but the weak pass velocity and inaccurate passes were mostly due to poor throwing mechanics. He's put in a ton of work and he managed to make those poor throws almost disappear. Hopefully he'll further progress this year to where we won't see any of them anymore. As to the decision making, for the most part he's been solid and is ahead of where most QB's his age are at.

Hard to tell, if you look at things like PFF projections they suggest that last year was mostly luck and that Watson will struggle this season. Since there are people who legitimately have that opinion, you can't assume people are being sarcastic.

You can expect teams to have studied video on him and to have adjusted their defenses accordingly to either take away what he does best or , since he's in his 2nd year, to do what they can to confuse and mislead him. It's the way of the NFL.

Indeed that's why I'm given him the benefit of the doubt treatment. But you know what's going on around here more than me.

Because some of that money could've been used to help protect DW4

It doesn't work like you wanted it to. It takes two to tangle. So many variables in which we don't have a clue about. They could've offered top dollar and still got out bided for whatever reason. Solders wanted to stay close to home for an example. Plan B couldve been Norwell but the Jaguars plan A. Who else was out there worthy of a hefty pay increase ?

Crazy thing I find funny as heck, is our line jumps from 31/32 to top 15. Jokers will come on here talking about Gaines is a genius. He made smart moves spending less. And how he still has 30+ left to upgrade other positions. You do know if Clowney handle his business again, he will want JJ type money correct.

Again let the season play out first before jumping off a cliff. Especially since it's not your money to spend.
