Yea makes sense with Rose signing. Finally the knicks are not gonna completely suck anymore. Playoffs in the future.

Porzingis will be a stud, but let's be clear - he is not there yet. Bringing in a strong leader like Rose in the short term is a smart move to surround KP with. As Rose and Melo wind down their playing careers, Kristaps will just start to be rounding into his prime. Until that happens, they can still be somewhat competitive and get some playoff experience under their belts(assuming Phil gets the coaching situation straightened out) which will only help KP's development. Making KP the star today and building around him with lesser players, is just going to make it harder for him to grow and the Knicks aren't getting a high draft pick with anything on that roster. It's a shame Isiah traded away all those draft picks - set their rebuild back for years.
NY does not deserve Rose..... Rose is not the player anymore but they could have at least unloaded him in the West.
Not sure why people are so down on this deal, it's a win-win for both teams. NYC can't tank and rebuild, they have the most expensive tickets and if Rose is healthy then its pretty much a sweet rebuild from them they already have their franchise player in Porzingis anyway so they just need people who can spice it up while he is still maturing. Rose is that perfect stop gap alongside Melo and if Rose bombs his contract is expiring in a year, that means they can collect a high pick then let him go. Losing Rolo isnt a big deal, 14M for him is decent but not a bargain, that's pretty much market value so you can replace him with a similar player at that amount, just offer Festus 12M PER and voila there you go. For the Bulls, this is a good way to cut salaries and maybe just rebuild around Butler.
It's bad for the Knicks because they needed a pass first PG who could also score when needed and wasn't a horrible defender. Obviously not many of them around, but they didn't need a shoot first PG(higher FGA per 100 pos than Melo) low efficiency(his TS% was #12 on Bulls, random faq 16 of 17 guys on the Hornets roster had a higher TS% than Rose) taking touches away from Porzingis. You want to build around Porzingis with young guys and a few blue collar guys like Lopez who don't put up big numbers but help with team chemistry by doing the little things like setting screens and hustling on D. You don't need a guy who is in a contract year that was already focused on free agency a year ago screwing the future up. Phil Jackson was going to do a slow rebuild but he panicked because the NY fan base and media were starting to turn up the heat. Rose had it easy in Chicago because he was a home town hero and biggest star since MJ. Dude is going to get roasted in NY if he doesn't do well.
I like it for the Knicks. Everything to gain, nothing to lose. More Attractive to Free Agents on paper. Potential on the court. More attractive to the fans, except for those depressed nuts. Cap space. They did not lose any difference makers.
Bingo. The Knicks made a low risk trade and gave up hardly anything. If Rose somehow stays healthy it will have been a good trade. I understand people criticizing because of the Knicks history of bad trades but this one's different.
