Ok, its 30 minutes to kick off. Who thinks Dennis Miller will flop as an announcer for Monday Night Football?

Who thinks he will be a great addition?

    My vote- He flops

Did you see his interview on ESPN with Mike Tirico? It seemed like he was trying to make everything into a joke, but then again he is a comedian, he is paid to make people laugh, and he is Dennis Miller.

Should be a great year. I don't want to pass any judgment on this guy. Can't wait to hear what he has to say when the games start for real.

    Football is Back!!!!

Did anyone else hear him say Bledsoe was sacked 55 times last night? Oh man [IMG]

Personally, I like the idea of Dennis Miller adding some comedic spice to Monday nights. These other old fogies he is working with just appear to mention the obvious. If Dennis can bust through that boring analysis, then more power to him. Otherwise, where is my mute button. I think he kind of sounds out of place right now but he has to find his comfort zone. I think it would be better to have him down on the field as a sideline analyst where he can clown around during interviews and crack OJ simpson jokes. Shhhh...I think I heard Dennis say something....what....where.

    Huh?

    Right.

    Haha Surf

It seems as if they are shoving papers in front of him to read. He seems out of place right now. Maybe he will find a comfort zone after a few games.

Appearently sirhangover prefers Miller in a bottle or can..

    But seriously folks [IMG]

I thought his first few comments were nearly out of bounds for a rookie announcer.

Probably more than Disney owned ABC bargained for... I mean come on saying "genitalia" on your first night? Maybe for Miller that's light (no pun intended) but it looks like they replaced a Boomer with a Bomber!

I watched about a quarter and a half of the game last night. I never really liked Dennis Miller's comedy stuff or his commercials. I always thought he was kind of annoying. But he was actually pretty good in the booth last night. He had a couple of really good zingers, and he left the heavy football jargon talk to Al & Dan. He wasn't fantastic nor did he bomb...he was "likeably mediocre" or "pretty good" and he could get better as the season goes on. If he starts getting full of himself or if he gets out of control, however, I think he's done for.

I agree. He wasn't that bad. Sometimes he was talking when AL was trying to do play by play. Overall, he hung in there and wasn't half bad. He gives you a reason to watch, but I think he needs to let the field play speak for itself on more occassions. He sometimes has too much to say.
