You can't teach size. The kid has the potential to overpower everyone in the league. However, he has serious maturity issues so we will see.
We could use this guy. I only hope Morey tried his best and made every offer he could put on the table when the Kings shot down our trade offer.
Do you know who Morey is? he's the GM of the Rockets, just making sure you new Pistons fans know that.
Rep for the truth. A lot of the posters here seem to have short-term memory, and forget the lessons of the past. ******+headcase problems+talent don't go well together. Most of the posters here gloss over his weight issues and headcase problems like its a minor thing, but I've never heard of a big man with headcase problems succeeding in the NBA. Rasheed Wallace was the closest, but after he helped lead the pistons to a ring he basically just coasted the rest of his career, and cost the Piston to lose in the playoffs again and again with his constant jacking and coasting on D.
What the **** is wrong with you? Why do you mention Tmac in every thread you post in? LOL are you his die-hard fan or something?
I kove what the SacTown have with Tyreke and Cousins. They are both head cases though and have attitude issues. Tyreke is a quiet one which can be more difficult to handle cause you dont know what theyre thinking while Cousins is a loud one and will let you know what hes thinking and why. Both are going to give head aches during times and orgasms at other times. The question is which pne are you going to get more - the head aches from all the bs or the orgasms from sheer awesome floor dominance? Im gonna say the head aches. They need a coach who is strong in handling personalities to groom them. Phil Jackson was really good at that, he could keep them all together and still get them to produce on the court. They need some one like that.
Honestly, they should have traded Tyreke and kept Kevin. Reke may be talented but he's a ball hog with a superiority complex... thinks he has to do it all. Cousins needs a mentor. I'm not sure Dalembert is strong willed enough to take Cuz to task. Hopefully this is his turnaround ... the kid is fun to watch when he's doing what he's supposed to do.
He'll have to wait to get a mentor. Sad but true. Dalembert is a nice guy and good story, but he doesn't strike me as a someone who could help Cousins. Let me throw this out there early. Suppose Cousins keeps his head together for a while and clearly becomes the face of the franchise, replacing Evans. Kings fans and pundits put him at the top of the totem pole in Sactown. How will Reke react to this? Can he handle not being the top dog? Will he become even more selfish in order to try and push his way back to the top? How will Cousins handle it? For now, it seems a bit of humility is still there. Will continual praise from all corners go to his head and bring out his bad side?
I don't think you know what you're talking about. Tyreke was never a headcase. He made one mistake as a young individual and now he has a attitude problem? He's apologized for the speeding incident and has moved on from it. I'm not saying he's the second coming of anything, but I've seen most of the Kings games so far this season and this kid is definitely talented. The FG% doesn't worry me yet as if you look at his month by month numbers, he's steadily improved. Right now he's posted 17.2 PTS 7.8 RPG 2.5 ASSISTS 1 BLK and 1 STL per game for the month of January on 46% shooting. Considering how many jumpers he takes, these are reasonably good. Keep in mind he came out of college only after one year. You can't compare this kid to Shaq who spent two years in college or to Hakeem who spent three years. Obviously you've never seen a Kings game this season to make this determination. Does Demarcus Cousins have maturity issues? Heck yea he does. He has a lot of growing up to do. He b****ed and complained about everything the first couple of months of the season. He has already shown improvements in that area so far. You can't question his heart or work ethic from watching him play. He plays with fire. Nor can you question his BBall IQ. His maturity issues have nothing to do with stupid OR lazy.
lol @ people calling Cousins lazy. They probably only say that because of his size. At Kentucky he played hard every game. His motor was never questioned. Nobody has said he was lazy in Sacramento he just had his attitude questioned. Half the people commenting about him have already made up what they think about him and won't change.
Winning changes everything. If he becomes a superstar and gets them into the playoffs, many people will eat crow. If it weren't for the Timberwolves, the Kings would be in last place in the standings again. He needs to get that the Kings out of last place like Durant/Thunder, LeBron/Cavaliers, Roy/Trailblazers, CP3/Hornets, DWilliams/Jazz, Rose/Bulls, Howard/Magic, etc. You get the point.
I get the point still not fair to hold the team record against Cousins. Sacramento is a mess and it's not just Cousins. It's tough to dominate the game when you have a guard like Tyreke Evans dominating the ball. Maybe things are changing there we will see.
he would if he had the appropriate coaching to start. his coach absolutely has no control over the team. westphal still doesn't have a defined role for evans yet. and evans has struggled this year mightily, and he still gets tons of minutes and the most touches. he goes in and out of lineups several times, and thus can mess up the rhythm of the team. but it's also cousins' fault. he's still way more immature than the guys you mentioned. and this problem stemmed from high school and college. but you can see he's slowly realizing that has to be solved. and they're slowly playing better. just b/c he doesn't do it in his first year that you have to hold it against him. the thread is about his potential, and he has A TON of them: franchise player-type of skills. will he continue to mature and develop those skills? it's up to him. but he sure has the tools to be a top 2-3 big man, if not the best big ma, in the L in 3-4 years.
The Clippers are are on their way to a 0.400 or better record, by the end of the season. Last season, they had only a 0.354 record. Griffin is showing Cousins what hard work can do. By next season, they might be in the playoffs.
